Are you suggesting I have a problem with porn?

Honestly Satan doesn't have a problem hearing scripture or reciting it. So I don't see that there would be any benefit to speaking it outloud.
Many years ago I became aware that speaking out scripture has more authority and more power, Satan cannot know our inner most thoughts. He knows we have given into temptation by our actions - when he sees the evidence. So speaking scripture out loud is joining in spiritual warfare in a different way. Jesus always spoke out loud when it came to addressing the demons ect.

I don't think Satan can hear people talk physically, he doesn't have a body with ears.

Sorry but the demons responded to Jesus when he spoke- so if they could hear him pretty sure satan could -also when Jesus was tempted in the wilderness Jesus responded with words to satan. Jesus would not have wasted his time if satan could not ‘ hear ‘

The bible's prescription for people that can't abstain from sexual indulgence is marriage. I honestly believe short of that, nothing is effective for a human being unless you have some illness that removes your sexual drive or are taking some meds that remove it.
Then allow me to introduce you to a near and dear friend of mine . HE NAME BE JESUS CHRIST and in HIM
all things are possible . Sister wynona actually gave a very good reminder . TRUTH .
THE WORDS of TRUTH in that bible , which i might add were inspired by THE HOLY GHOST
do GOOD to the hearer and the doer . BUT if one believeth not , then how can they overcome .
Time to preach JESUS CHRIST devin . I know the flesh is monster devin . YOu are not being accused .
Rather i am bringing back to your mind and memory , OH YEAH THERE IS A WAY OUT OF SIN
and out of temptation . HIS NAME ..........................JESUS CHRIST . do we BELIEVE THIS , now that IS the QUESTION .
OR do we beleive men and our flesh which say IT AINT POSSIBLE . I SUGGEST we BELIEVE JESUS CHRIST
and let us get well dug in the bible .

I appreciate this. God's Word read out loud absolutely has power over the enemy!
My question to all is BELIEVEST THOU THIS . many folks who are caught up in sin
and now beleiveing , its just not possible to overcome it .
BUT in CHRIST JESUS ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE unto , unto HE or She who .................BELIEVES .
Keep feasting my dear sister . You stay stirred up . And how do we stir one another up .
Allow me to quoate peter , BY REMINDING them of such things . AKA reading them words CAN STIR US UP .
YOUR RIGHT dear sister . KEEP on doing it . THE WORDS of TRUTH surely can convict a lamb .
Fight the good fight till the last breath ebbs out those lungs . And be sure and read the bible
to baby naomi was well . IT IS JUST NEVER TOO EARLY to point one to CHRIST JESUS .

Expressing your beliefs or countering doctrine is not biting and devouring each other. We have a responsibility to teach.
Why devin , HOW TRUE THIS IS . We do have a responsiblity to correct error , to correct sinful behavoir
to warn against that which is false and those who teach such falsehoods .
WHY Devin i had tears of joy when i read what you typed . let us KEEP THAT IN MIND . oH yes
let us KEEP that IN MIND . For in the days ahead, by grace , oh i will be helping to remind others
You be blessed now , ya hear . KEEP THIS IN MIND my dear friend .
And allow me some parting words GIVEN BY CHRIST HIMSELF to a church .
Now first this church was doing some GOOD things . AMEN .
BUT , GOD found error in it .
Would you like to know what the error was . THEY were , ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOWING
a false one to teach and to seduce the people .
SO REMEMBER THAT WELL when you see my warning against those who be false and agaisnt their false doctrines .

"Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near."
Revelation 1:3

I've heard this before, that reading/quoting scripture aloud is somehow beneficial to the reader and those around them, of course...but even alone. Not sure the reason why. Shrug :)
joy: joy: joy:   joy:joy:joy:
So now i have a real simple question . How come some are heeding those who say
we dont read revelation in our churches cause it might TRIGGER SOME .
excactly sister . Physology of men are leading churches away from A BLESSING INDEED .
And now for another question .
WHY is it when some still do warn agaisnt those
who are teaching falsehoods , who are seducing the people , IS THIS NOW SEEN as ERROR , non loving
judgmental .
Cause if we bother to read that book called revelation , I SURE SEEM to see a reminder
to a certain church , well to the churches in there .
AND one of them warnings WAS THIS .
I HAVE THIS AGAINST YOU . now lets take heed cause we sure dont want GOD to have something AGAINST US .
Lets see what this was .
YE ALLOW . not that YOU ARE TEACHING , which would be bad enough
BUT THE WORDS were YOU ALLOW as in YOU are ALLOWING a false one to teach and to seduce my people .
SO i have a real quick reminder . HOW COME FOLKS constantly trash me
causei warn agianst FALSE ONES WHO ARE SEDUCING the people . YOU know LIKE THE POPE HIMSELF
as well as scores of others even within the protestant realm .
CAUSE the last time i checked it says those who HEAR AND KEEP what is written .
NOT THOSE WHO HEAR AND OMIT what was written .

You rebuked someone (twice) for reading the bible out loud as a method to resist the urge to sin.
You "corrected" her that reading scripture cannot help protect against lust ... only marriage, illness or drugs will work.

Sorry, but I think you might have a hair trigger when it comes to "biting and devouring" other Christians and a pretty flawed understanding of the power of scripture: "All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." - [2Ti 3:16-17 KJV*]

* since I am certain that you must be a KJV fan. ;)

Everything was good till i read that last little line my friend .
You see i am a KJV fan myself and i sure wasnt rebuking wynona now was i ,
Now that dont mean i think folks that read other versions are gonna burn in hell either .
BUT it do mean i am gonna do all to convince them to get back IN the KJV .
Be blessed my friend . Do be encouraged . But i have tested many other versions .
Except for the footnotes i can say the geneva is good too .
The NKJV is good enough , though a few , very few minor details were changed .
As far as the NIV , yeah , My advice is put it down
and as far as the message , BURN IT . It has led more folks into new age love than has perhaps any other version known to man .
The message is total bad news . And the NIV does have a score of problems in it too .
But again i aint saying those who read the NIV are destined to hell . Just saying i remind all
get back into the KJV . Learn it well . If ol amigo can learn it , ANY BODY could have .

I use a variety of translations. For my own personal reading and study, I compare two different translations to spot differences and flag those verses as areas that need a closer look.

For a general forum discussion, I lean towards NLT if talking with a new Christian that wants answers to a basic question (because it is easy for new Christians to read and understand) and NKJV for general "Bible discussions" (because it is familiar to the KJV fans without having to deal with archaic words that may have changed meaning). I personally, like NASB and ESV as translations because of the "Formal Equivalence" (word for word) translation and use of newly discovered manuscript evidence. For the quoted response, I would have used NKJV but anyone pedantic enough to object to reading scripture is probably "KJV-Only" ... so I deferred from NKJV to KJV to avoid potential arguments that my quote was "not real scripture".

Sorry if I got carried away with the mud. ;)
No offense intended (except against KJV-Onlyism) :Ohpleze:

So recently, my favorite bible teacher suggested to read the Scriptures out loud to overcome sin. Especially James, 1 John, and 1 Peter.

I wanted to see if it worked. And at first, I still struggled. But now for about a week and a half Ive been able to overcome my temptation to look at pornography.

Before, I would try to resist and fail. But now...how do I explain...the temptation still has cropped up, but I find that I take the promised "way of escape" more. I just go to sleep.

Romans 10:17 mentions faith comes through hearing, and hearing through the Word of God, so I want to see if others will give it a try for dealing with sins they want to stop, no matter what sins they are.
Filling your mind with Scripture is a wonderful to take ahold of God's power!

Much love!

If you struggle with any sin, I do recommend hearing Scripture read out loud or reading it out loud (Romans 10:17).

Im not about controlling people so you don't have to do anything you don't want to do.

However, Satan isn't the one Im targetting. Its anyone who wants to overcome temptations of any kind in their life. Satan knows Scripture but a lot of times we as Christians do not. It's our minds that have to be renewed.
I like to play hymns and audio Bible as background. It helps me keep my mind ordered.

Much love!

Much agreed. I've got all of the ones you mentioned; even a "paraphrased" one, TLB.
As far as preference, KJV has been my go to for decades. It's what I learned on and seeked with; verses come in KJV to me easier than any other because of the archaic English. I think in KJ language, lol. It really is how scripture comes to me as some of the newer ones, kind of have me wondering exactly which verse they are quoting.
It's all in what one is accustomed to IMHO.

God sustains His Word, just as He sustains the whole planet! If one is sincere in seeking Him, He can bring light to them, despite their bible version. Some cannot even read...I'm sure our God is not going to turn away those who found Him in a NASB, NLT, KJV,ESV...I must question how many versions other countries have, do they have their own version of the KJV? Lol. :contemplate:

Our God reveals much to those who seek Him , "wholeheartedly" , would He ever turn away ANY who seek with their hearts? "...He will in no wise cast out..." ❤️
