A raccoon's wild-life style is not for everyone Debp, for sure tsml . But life can be good when your always on the move. Shake and move, shake and move. Although they sometimes get into frisky trouble, it has its benefits. For instance fishing comes naturally with little hand-paws like that. Not to mention bird eggs come free. Just takes those cat-like claws, a little attitude, altitude, a few swats at the birds, and breakfast is ready!

I had a relative who was severely attacked by her own raccoon! She was severely injured!
They are very agressive here where I live. I have encountered them a few times. Wild raccoons.

My experience is to keep your distance if encountered. And same as other predators, move away slowly and cautiously, looking around, not tripping over something while stepping backwards. They will usually end their advance on your position if you make yourself not a threat.

Raccoons have not been afraid of me or others and will approach aggressively. Not shy. Like a bully walking.

Hope your relative is OK now.

Our Los Angeles area raccoons and bears must be very laid back critters. lol

When a friend moved to an area that had raccoons, she not only fed them...but she left her door open and one came in and wandered around!
