The Bible has already revealed why Israel is at the center of Satan’s fury, and why a persecution greater than anything the world has ever seen is still ahead? Revelation 12 pulls back the curtain on Satan’s final assault against Israel, the Antichrist’s coming war, and God’s miraculous intervention.
Satan's final assault against nation Israel in the end time?
No! Revelation 12 is
NOT describing national Israel as an end-time nation that Satan plan to attack. The woman represents
Covenant Israel—the congregation of God—across both sides of the Cross. The vision begins with Old Testament Israel, the congregation from whom Christ, the Man Child, came. The twelve stars themselves point to the continuity of God's covenant people: the twelve tribes under the Old Covenant and the twelve apostles under the New Covenant.
The chapter then moves through Christ's birth, His victory at the Cross, and His ascension to God's throne. After Christ ascends, the woman continues as the
New Testament congregation—the Church, composed of believing Jews and Gentiles in Covenant Israel. She is protected and spiritually nourished in the wilderness while carrying the testimony of Christ.
Therefore, Revelation 12 is not suddenly jumping thousands of years forward to describe the modern nation of Israel. It presents the history of
God's covenant congregation centered upon Christ: Israel before the Cross brings forth Christ; Christ conquers Satan and ascends; and afterward the Church continues as the woman whom Satan persecutes. Revealtion 12 explicitly describes her as “the Israel of God,” consisting before the Cross mainly of Abraham's physical descendants, but after the Cross of Jews and Gentiles together in covenant with God.
That is why Revelation 12 ends with Satan making war against
the remnant of the woman's seed—those who keep God's commandments and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Clearly Christians of the New Testament making up of Gentiles and Jews in Christ, not nation in the Middle East. The focus is therefore not an end-time geopolitical nation, but the faithful covenant people of God and their testimony of Christ.
