Hello @Mayflower

Sorry not to have been around lately. Forgive me for not taking part in this study. I notice that the reading for the 7th day is Psalm 37:4:-

'Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Delight thyself also in the LORD; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.
And He shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him:... ... '

(Psalm 37:1-7A)

* My Mother wrote in my autograph book, when I was in my early teens, a verse from Proverbs, which the Lord has used over and over in my life since. She died when I was eighteen.

'Trust in the LORD with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct thy paths.'

(Proverbs 3:5-6)

* If I had lived according to this rule, I would have saved myself a lot of heartache, but though I do trust in the Lord with all my heart, I do lean to my own understanding, and I have not always thought to acknowledge Him in all my ways, but certainly do when the way I have chosen has ended badly, seeking comfort.

* The verse highlighted (the one for day 7 of your study) is one which a dear friend of mine loved. She was the only person that I could truly enter into prayer with. She was much older than myself, almost old enough to be my Mother, and she too is now asleep in Christ.

'Delight thyself also in the LORD;
and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.'

* In Psalm 16:11 it says,

'Thou wilt shew me the path of life:
in Thy presence is fulness of joy;
at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

* What we miss when we go our own way, don't we? For only in His presence is there fulness of joy, and at His right hand pleasures for evermore. When we are delighting ourselves in Him, He does give to us the desires of our hearts.

Christ Jesus our risen Lord is sitting at God's right hand now (Colossians 3:1), His work of salvation finished (Hebrews 1:3; 1 Peter 3:22); but He still intercedes for us before the Father. We, in God's estimation are there too, at His right hand, as near to the Father as He. There is nothing preventing us from knowing that Joy, and delight now, as we rest on Him to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory.

Praise God!

With love to you.
In Christ Jesus
Chris
