My Bible (Revised Standard Version) says "rightly handling the word of truth." NIV says "correctly handles the word of truth." NRSV: "rightly explaining the word of truth." KJV: "rightly dividing the word of truth." I think it's about having a mature understanding of the Lord's will.
That's an interesting perspective: The idea of "maturity" in combination with God's "will."

Care to elaborate on what that might look like...or what it does not look like in comparison?

Thanks!

I'm just saying that we have the opportunity to learn from our experiences, and better understand what God's will is. Our decisions affect our lives and the lives of those around us. It's best, therefore, to have the best possible understanding of God's intentions. We can do great good, or we can cause a lot of trouble.
