Role of women in church and the household

This topic has been tickling my fancy (lol) for quite some time. My church really emphasizes on this. That the husband is the head of the family, and the pastor of the family. I actually can see a hierarchy of power here.
God > Pastor > Husband > Family
1 Corinthians 14:34-35Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.I can see why this is important. God had set up a perfect system of marriage, but our way of life in America has perverted it. This is why we see so many dysfunctional marriages and divorces.Note: The husband cannot dictate the family, he cannot force the members to do things that go against God. Dang right America has perverted it -- beyond belief. However, the rest of the western world has done the same thing. We will have to answer for this someday. Also, being hilariously tyrannical towards my future wife was my one goal in life -- AND NOW YOU RUINED IT -- thanks alot!(disclaimer --- that was a joke son, pay attention XD).(Wakka;47934)

Nah, I believe that people should come as they are, and I also don't believe that God wants us to be Mr. Business Casual on Sunday. I mean geez, if I wanted to act like an impersonal business man I would go to work.

Throughout the bible, God is referred to using male nouns. HE, is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, not some sort of gender mix.You may be thinking, "if God insists on calling Himself male, what does this mean for us ladies". However, as you know, the head cannot survive without the body, and the body cannot survive without the head. There is an interdependancy that happens between a husband and wife -- even though the husband is in charge. (I mean geez, just read the book of Esther).If men really think about what they want in a wife, they definitely would not want a woman who is intellectually or emotionally inferior. I mean, who would want a wife that couldn't understand anything? Who would want a wife than couldn't carry on an intelligent conversation? NO ONE.

I've read the 3 part series, and the only part I disagree with is that God is not male. I think He is male as the day is long.

Other than calling Himself "He" in the bible and the three parts of the trinity being:Father:Son:Holy Spirit:When God decided to dwell among us. He decided to be the SON of Man as well as the SON of God.http://christiananswers.net/q-eden/son-of-man.htmlHe came to earth as a man. He could have chosen to be either sex right. However, He decided to be male rather than female. He didn't have both genitalia either. This is significant, and it has to do with His desire towards the church.

I'll just say this. I believe firmly, that when Paul said that he suffers not a woman to teach... he meant as the apostolic, or pastoral place of teaching. A woman is not intended to be the head of a church... as the person in front, leading the pack.Women can certainly teach... we can learn a lot from women. They are the other half... and there are things in a woman's mind that help the man, and visa-versa. However, by God's Word, a woman should not be in the place of leadership of a body of believers. That is the way I see it, and I trust God that it is best that way.Also, if the husband has given permission to the wife (who should ask her husband at home), then by all means... speak. Perhaps the husband has decided that the wife has something to say, better, in a way that he could not. Would not the wife be disobeying to *not speak* in this occasion? Seeing as God has moved her, and her husband has approved?It is important that there is order of rule, and the husband is the leader. I should love my wife, at all times, and at all times she should submit to my leadership. If this is done, what can go wrong? I believe it was said that Sarah purified herself by following Abraham's lead? Even when he was taking her into danger? I cannot recall the specific verse, but if someone else can... by all means.

God wouldn't have a gender is it wasn't for Jesus, imo. We know that Jesus is a male. We also know that God created Adam first in His (masculine

) image, then Eve came from Adam. In that case comes the superiority of man over woman. But man also doesn't have a right to over power and enslave (so to speak) women.

IDK man, I think you misread her quote. She is talking about a doctrine where women are not in God's image (They are in the image of man). According to Genesis, women are just as much in the image of God as men. Gen 1:26-28HOWEVER,Men and women represent different things to God. Men represent God (God's glory), and women represent mankind (mankind's glory). They are REPRESENTATIVES of two things, but that doesn't change their "image".

No Radd, I think I read it the correct way from her. I find that many many many females feel Pauls teachings should be changed- because it doesnt line up with todays society. Its not a matter of whos closer to God- its a matter of roles. Women were taken from man, for man. Not the other way around. Man is the IMAGe and glory of God, woman is the glory of man. Its a hard teaching for most females of our society to accept.

The problem here is that instead of really understanding what these verses mean we tend to read them with an assumption In every flesh body resides the true soul/spirit of the person the flesh means little the fact woman was made from man gives her a different role in the flesh notice I said differnt not less important her spirit/soul is the same value as a mans. Men were given certain attributes women others it is for this reason when they become one (as in marriage)they are whole. Man is supposed to be over woman but he is also supposed to conduct himself like Christ.

Right Kriss, I knew you were sneaking around here ready and waiting to pounce on me.

But like I said, its not "whos closer to God?" its- what roles has the Lord given the man and what has he given the woman. Theres reasons for all of it, but we should never act like womans souls are somehow less, as you may have taken my post. Thank the Lord for women, and their role with Gods picture, mankinds picture, and everything else they help us goofy guys with.

Got the subject here? Daughters are born to men.Genesis 6:2 "That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.""Sons of God" are the "Nephilim" or "fallen angels". They are the angels that have committed themselves to Satan in his fall in the first earth age. These fallen angels saw that the daughters of flesh men were very beautiful, and they wanted to take them for their wives. These fallen angels sought to have the things of flesh man, and their experiences of marriage, without being born of woman.
