And with Russia not being able to access SWIFT, those sales won't help them.

These nations will have to sell their dollars to Russia to buy Rubles and then Russia can do nothing with those dollars! The west has all but ended all trade with Russia except fuels, and if Russia cuts that off it will hurt Russia as much as the West.

The african nations mostly get their fuels from the middle east so Russian sales will be minimal. China is the only nation to have any real impact on russian sales and their economy is craching badly and it still won't make up the shortfall in revenue is Putin cuts the West off!

Simple. Had there been a genuine president in the White House, he would have personally met with Vladimir Putin on neutral ground (outside Europe or America) long before the end of 2021 and tried to work out an amicable plan for future relations between the USA and The Russian Federation.

He could have gone as far as signing a comprehensive treaty with Russia which would ensure that Russia would never be attacked by the USA or NATO on a first strike basis, and in turn none of the former Soviet satellites (including Ukraine) would be attacked by Russia. He could even have included a trade agreement within that treaty which would be mutually beneficial. He could even have asked for Russia to stay out of Syria (with the proper incentives), and focus on its own people.
