Well,.. I haven't read most of this whole entire thread, (only the OP actually) but I believe that they are compatible because I believe that God created the big bang and humans have evolved since creation.

    Science and faith ARE compatible!
    OP ^

    Sure.
Science was Given and taught in Scripture.
The purpose / intent is for a good benefit for mankind.

When Science is purposed or intended for evil and wickedness, like anything else that begins good, and falls away...
That which is not good, like all individual choices should be abandoned, by an individual IN Christ.

IMO there is good science and evil science...and the use of science for evil is socially becoming acceptable and catching the interest and participation of younger generations.

    Glory to God,
    Taken

The scientific method is self-correcting when practiced honestly. We have no better way of identifying valid and reliable data than the scientific method. Just because science may sometimes draw conclusions that contradict the Bible, that does not necessarily mean that the Bible is wrong. Science may reject an idea today, but find evidence to confirm it tomorrow. This is why, when it comes to science, practitioners must maintain a skeptical attitude. The practice of science also requires replication of observed phenomena; so, just because one piece of research indicates something, that observation is NEVER considered as factual. Indeed, there are no facts that emerge from the practice of science (see Karl Popper & the Principle of Falsification'). Even if a researcher finds something to be true after replicating an experiment 100 times, science will not deem that observation as 'factual'.

Science does place limits upon the practitioner because it requires that any phenomena under discussion be capable of being observed or measured. This is why the question of the 'soul' cannot be answered by science (at least not by modern science). A soul cannot be detected by any known experimental method; a soul does not consist of matter or normal energy. Therefore, certain issues are outside the realm of science. The existence of God, for example, cannot be answered by science. If a scientists states that God does not exist, we can be sure that that scientist is not speaking as a scientist. That scientist is merely stating an opinion, but that opinion does not have the authoritative backing of Science.

Besides all this, almost all of us accept scientific findings in practice. Most of us use microwave ovens and computers, which have been made possible by scientific discoveries. So, to deny science is a self-contradiction for most modern humans. You cannot drive an automobile without accepting that science produces real and practical outcomes. So, to be honest with ourselves, we must accept science to a certain degree; we must accept that science is a practical way of advancing our understanding of the world. The question is not about 'does science produce real, practical discoveries?' We all believe that it does. To argue against science is to argue against our normal, everyday behavior. What are in dispute are specific findings and theories within science.

Science proceeds through "scientific revolutions". These occur when large areas of scientific understanding are challenged by a growing body of evidence that contradicts the orthodox understanding of science. Just like in religion, scientific orthodoxy is difficult to deny by scientists. There are social pressures within the scientific community that resist change to the orthodox views within science. These include 'getting tenure' and working under a senior professor who will help determine if a particular scientist's research will become published. There are strong pressures to stick to the orthodox view.

Darwin's discoveries and theory helped usher in one of these 'revolutions'. That does not mean that there will not be other scientific revolutions in the future. Science has a way of self-correcting over long periods of time, but in the short run, science can be quite biased in favor of orthodox explanations. So, it is possible that the theory of evolution is correct, but not completely correct.
