It would be impossible to describe the beauty that we've experienced in these many years. I lament things that are gone.

In the old days the Bob white quail would call to each other at twilight time and gather in a rough circle facing outwards. If attacked or disturbed at night they would burst away in flight. You've not been startled until you "jump" a covey that explodes under you!

They're gone now. No Bob whites calling. Not extinct but due to farming practices have been severely reduced in numbers.

When all farms were the rule the many fence posts with holes in themmYou will made nesting sites for multitudes of Blue birds. They have been in drastic decline as has the whippoorwill whose numbers have dropped 50 - 75%. In late winter afternoons I've watched 6-8-10 bluebirds crowd into a bird house so they could share the warmth.

After a rain in spring the fire flies/lightning bugs cover the treetops in the bottoms below us making a flashing light display impossible to describe.

Then there are the whitetail deer that blow or snort at me from the field in the river bottom when I walk out on the porch.

The waters here are clear and the streams are rock and graveled beds. Smallmouth bass are real fighters and 5 pounders are not uncommon. A friend caught a 12lb walleye in a pool of water Just up stream from us. We floated stretches of these upper Saline River forks many times and the dogwoods blooming now make float trips a wonderful experience.

Our daughter is acting superintendent at a state park and is an outdoors soul like her paw. She floats the Buffalo national river and hikes the Ozarks and Boston Mountains.

The multi hued lime greens of the mountain hardwoods are beautiful with the dark evergreen pines all mixed together. Those that appreciate God's creation are truly blessed and can marvel at His infinitely varying designs no matter which direction they may turn.

I'm grateful that the Heavenly Father placed these things in my heart and He enjoys everything He has made. It has never gotten old or boring to Him and He enjoys it now as much as when He created it.

I am from California, but I moved to Idaho in 1989 and I was raised in the SF area and I always wanted to be out there, my uncle had land in the north east of said state, where you could go crazy for the silence, I don't covet your peace, but I do envy your peace, I truly do realize the joy, as I have walked many mile's of the snake river to fish, and have spent many day's with my bird dogs looking for partridge and pheasant, not so much to kill these bird's but to enjoy the time watching the dog's work, and enjoy the experience of the snow on the ground, and the peacefulness out there. I am not an avid hunter, but like I used to tell my friend's, sure pay for the tag's and when the hunt was over, that was it, pack out the meat and then what, but when you can go every day, with your dog's and walk, mile after mile in God's Creation and weather you take anything, there is a peace that will determine what kind of person we will be, we were to the stewards of all thing's, so let us do so with respect, here in the Desert you can not get a rattler to take a spinner. LOL

Yes in Idaho because of the way they water their crop's and farm every inch of ground there is very little space for the wildlife to find places to nest, the partridge, and pheasant have no where to nest, nor find shelter during the winter. Pivot Irrigation leaves no row brush as when they flood Irrigated. Sorry this is a sad thought, we have traded prophet without regard for the Creation!!

The earth's getting tired and certainly has been abused. Not much has escaped the predation of man. We have enjoyed the quiet and soslitude of the mountains and forests. It's not for everyone. Women especially want to be closer to town, to shopping etc.

My wife and I both love people but are able to live solitarily and appreciate it. Many times over the years the Lord has spoken this scripture to me;

Micah 7:14 KJVS
Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.

Our drive is a quarter mile long off of a small rural road. We have neighbors but most keep to themselves like us. I don't mind the northerners and others talking us down here in the south if it keeps them away. I notice that no one heads north for retirement only toward the south.

In the long past years there were old time settlers that I really loved to talk with. One old man Kelly, cut a road back into a remote bend on the Saline in 1917 with a team icon oxen, axes and cross cut saws.

My hometown, Bonham Texas, is just across the Red River from Oklahoma which was Indian territory. On market days they'd take wagon and horses to town and the square around the courthouse would be filled with farmers, Indians, tradesmen, hunters. All kinds of people. I loved to hear the pioneer folks tell accounts of the old days.
BonhamTexasPostcard.jpg
A commanche Indian leads a Pony as a cowboy looks on in my hometown of Bonham Texas ca. 1900

Their lives were were very simple and very very hard.

My maternal great grand mother, Belle Journey told my mother that she went to a revival as a young girl and went forward to be saved. As she walked home the Lord spoke to her and said "you're alright now Belle".

We're satisfied here because God made a way for us to live here and put this life in our hearts. As the word says each one has their proper gift from God.

And I discovered birds, the sunrise and sunset, I cannot plug earphones in my ears, right now I can her the breeze blowing and the crickets. love the birds in the morning the sound of the waves on the beach, even my grand daughter yesterday was enjoying those cool gusts as they whipped up into our faces. This is Gods wonderful creation and He said it is good.

I cant imagine a world without the sounds of nature all around.

God bless

Well here is some more 'mistakes, lies and dishonesty' ( for Stranger) about the glory of this present creation.
I read this today from a friend in England.

Until yesterday, every time I opened our front door I would see our 'Blackie' sitting on her nest right by the side of the door.
This morning there was no immediate sign of Blackie, instead I was greeted by several little open beaks straining up and hoping to be fed. They think that the slightest sound of me opening the door might be Blackie returning with food.

Across the garden, sheltering under the eaves of our Garage, and nesting within touching distance of each other , we also have a resident Robin and a resident Great Tit.
Soon the garden will be overrun by fledgling Blackbirds, Robins, Great Tits, and other birds who regularly scavenge around for stuff but whose nest I haven't discovered.

A picture of the eternal hope within, of the great final 'Seasonal Change' yet to come..! ✟

So amazing that He has His view on every sparrow all of the time and hears millions of cries for help from the earth with out missing one. 100% attention to everyone at the same time. Only God can do this.

Just as we care for things we make with our hands He cares for all of His creation. Especially us.

I pity those souls that are so harsh in their views of God. To them God is a policeman with a big book of empty citations waiting to be written rather than a kind and gentle good shepherd watching out God all of us wayward sheep.

Isaiah 59:12 KJVS
For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;

I need a shepherd - a good shepherd far more than a policeman.
