Are YOU a part of that "EVERYBODY"? How do YOU even know what everyone "thinks". You are correct and "everybody" else is wrong? He looks at the heart, motive.
BTW-you quoted @Taken, not me. I replied to Taken and put "quotation" marks to show it was not ME writing that, and BTW-I agree with Taken :)

Calm down Nancy. I quoted YOU in post #57.

Of course, I’m part of everybody. Duh.

Everybody is. I didn’t say “everybody else.” Those were your words and perhaps more of your sentiments.

You quoted me quoting Taken. We really need to be careful to quote the correct person. Here is the post Taken wrote that I quoted from:

"Few actually Read Scripture.
Many use one quote against an others position, more so than to support their own position, favoring instead a list of scholars, clerics, and outside of scripture philosophies.

1)The key to the Knowledge is Big Picture:
Who, What, When, Where, Why. Ie Context!

2) The key to understanding the Knowledge …is complete step (1) Then ask God for His Understanding!

Works for me. :)

I am not bothered by who disagrees with me.
I am content being in agreement with the Lord God.

Glory to God,
Taken"

I believe he was “generalizing” every individual thinks what they Believe...
IS right.

I think the “general point” is, many do not KNOW “WHY”, they think they are RIGHT. They quote scholars, of this or that Denomination and sideline (outside of Scripture) and Philosophers as “their” validation.

Personally, I could care less what “scholars, clerics from this or that Denomination or Philosophers” have concluded and teach....

I TRUST the direct teaching from the Holy Spirit, as Jesus MADE “that Way” and offering possible to any man “with the Lord”....who reaches out and TAKES it.

God Bless,
Taken

And it’s exactly the problem. Everybody ‘thinks’ that what they believe, what they have been taught or have come to accept is the truth and “in agreement with God.”
I must object. The problem is the first part, I am not bothered by who disagrees with me. Not true in practice in many cases.

In fact, many take the Great Commission to mean get heathens to agree with them.

My pastor gave a sermon last year introducing the notion of an adversarial witness. If you witness for God be a good one, who reflects Gods grace. Don’t make the potential convert rue the day he ever heard of Christianity.

That was me making that statement, as it applies to me.
I am not trying to convince any particular person. I will continue to speak what I believe, even continuing to address someone on this forum whom I know disagrees with me. Not to “convince” them, but rather to “spark” an interest in any other party that is reading these forum comments.

As Jesus said, he sometimes spoke to men for the Benefit of those standing by ... listening in to Jesus speaking to an other.

Service unto God, is to simply speak His word for others to hear, whether or not they Believe, whether or not you are speaking directly to an other or not.

John 11:
[42] And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

Glory to God,

I engage Christians on numerous platforms and share scriptures with them regarding various topics and EVERY time they REJECT God's words in favor of their own personal opinion. It's pointless.
Just showing up is all we can do, and if it is not enough, our obligation has been met regardless. Sad though. For sure. :(

Good! Then you won’t mind me disagreeing with you. The Catholics are married to their ideas and truly believe that they “are in agreement with God.” So too the SDA believers, Baptists Of every stripe, JW’s, evangelicals, Mormons, Muslims and Jews.

They all “think” they are in agreement (some even imagine perfect agreement) with God.

True. I don't lose any sleep over it.

I tend to not look at people as part of a collective but as an individual.

The foundation of your concern is IDOLATRY. Too many have made their doctrines into an IDOL. Until you realize this, you won't give up the fight we were never supposed to have to begin with. For me, it goes back to rejecting the notion of perverted equality. Who do you have authority over? Concern yourself only with the people God has entrusted to you.

The Bible recognizes only 4 Earthy authorities:
  1. parents
  2. boss
  3. husband
  4. civil leader
What other parents, bosses (master's), husbands or civil leaders do is also not too much of your concern. The title of this thread is sharing God's word being pointless. However, the author means beating-over-the-head-with-those-who-disagree-until-they-submit-as-if-I-have-authority-over-them being pointless. And I agree with that. See the difference?

I know just a few Christians that have enough humility to accept that their understanding might be incomplete. You show me 100 Christians and I can guarantee you that 97 of them are hardcore certain that their understanding is perfect. There's no point in even sharing God's word with them. They're unreachable. At least they believe in God, unlike the hardcore atheists.
What's important is that they believe in Jesus Christ and have received the Holy Spirit.

After that we should be lead by the Spirit. Those lead by the Spirit should be unreachable, by design they are like the birds of the air. If you put out food for the birds they will come, nibble, and fly away again. And if the food is not too their liking they will not gather.

The so called disputable matters, that don't lead to damnation, will all inevitably be revealed if even by the Lord himself.

I agree with that also.
