In the first earth age the animals were not afraid of man for we did not eat them. But since the flood of the first earth when Noah sacrificed an animal unto God, we were then told that the animals would fear us and now harm us to defend them selves because God gave them to us now along with all the plants for food. Also that we see that God gives warning to any man who shed's man or animals blood, they too must have their blood shed in the same manner.
The life of a man is in his blood, this does not mean that only if you lose your blood do you die, for a man can die in his sleep without shedding a drop. It means our spirit which is our life resides in our blood. When we partake of the Lord's supper the wine represents the blood or Spirit being the breath of life. We go about giving blood to be put in others veins we are mingling our spirits with theirs.
Gen 9:1-7
9:1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.

3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.

4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.

5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.

6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

7 And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.
