@Cross8527 Let me just say this to you.....I am so sorry to hear of your loss of sight....I can only imagine the frustration it has caused over these years, but have you realistically asked why Jesus seems to be ignoring your sincere requests and the prayers of others to have your sight restored? In the first century people just showed up and were cured without faith.....just hope. The faith came from the hope fulfilled....from gratitude and awe that was demonstrated in the power of God....something that affected them so personally.
Why is it different now? How is it that people of faith no longer experience what was seen in Jesus’s day...nothing even close to it?
Have you ever asked why the miracles concentrated on pain, suffering and disability?....and why, when Jesus cured the multitudes, and fed them before he continued preaching to them? They had stayed with him for three days with little to no provisions, proving that they were genuine in their interest to listen to what he had to say.
No one was then distracted from his message by pain or hunger....being 100%....completely cured....en masse.
Why did Jesus raise the dead, but not many? Again, this is what we can expect in the “new earth” to come.
Jesus will call all the dead from their graves so that they can be reunited with their lost loved ones (John 5:28-29)....death was not supposed to happen.....but thanks to the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus, we get back all that we lost, and those who accept and appreciate that grand gesture from Jesus and his Father, will benefit in more ways than we can imagine. (Isa 65:17-25)
The miracles of the first century (the apostolic period) were for a time and a reason.....it was the time to show Jesus’ first century audience (his Jewish brethren) what the kingdom will do for all who accept him as savior. What humanity lost after the fall, was all that God will restore by the rulership of his kingdom. We were created to live forever in paradise....but we was robbed! We never got to live that life.
Not a soul who is granted life under the kingdom’s rule will have any pain, suffering or disability....they will not grow old or get sick....they will never be hungry or lack shelter, nor will any living thing do them harm.
This is the world we yearn for....the one we were born to live in...but the one that was taken from us. Jesus gave his life to get it back for us.....God’s will can finally “be done on earth as it is in heaven”.
I myself experience the pain of what living in this world throws at us. I lost my husband to Huntington’s Disease and now I am watching it happen again to my son. God is the one who provides the strength, day to day to stand up to awful circumstances that life can throw at us...but one thing is sure....all the things that weigh us down in this world are temporary....we will have forever to enjoy the real life...in the new world now so close at hand. (Rev 21:2-4)
I have been watching some YouTube videos lately with those who were born colour blind, seeing colour for the first time.....it reduced them (and me) to tears......it gives me a small idea of how wonderful it will be for the blind to see...the deaf to hear, and those with disabilities to be made whole. To see an end to poverty, war, crime and violence, and to have only those who love God as our neighbors.
If that sounds like somewhere you’d like to live, then it will be well worth the wait....not needing cures and miracles now, but holding out for the global fulfilment of God’s promises for all who put faith in him.
The kingdom is coming soon......
