Surely this forum has some kind of control over the ads it promotes?

Is his name doughty over there too? I'm not a member there.. but I can look for him. I don't have a lot of hope since he ignored my messages on here. I sent two just asking if I could speak with him.. nothing. I was thinking Angelina must have a way to communicate with him.

I'm also at Worthy Christian forum. It's owned by a pastor and he interacts with members regularly.

I used to moderate at another Christian forum for 13 years. Found out the owner never kept up the security for the site. It was hacked and destroyed.

I was a member of a forum where that happened too. Deleted all the threads, and left all the boards blank.

The owner had backups,so the site was restored. Then,she emailed all members to let us know what happened. And why the site was down.

Unfortunately,it seemed their hacker was on that email list.
Hacked and blanked again.

Not to be deterred , she moved to a different server. Hacker followed. Because a week later the site was empty. No header,nothing.

That's when they gave up.

Sad.

Yeah, I was there also, me and you have spoken there as I have shared before, George has his own little section over there for the most part.

For some its an investment of some sort, so I don't know. The moderators here are much better than the ones at CF though.

Christian forum owners might have different reasons for having forums, maybe so that they can provide a place for online fellowship, or being a participant in the ministry of Christ according to their own brand or understanding, or for a passive income in some way where others can take the oversight voluntarily while they themselves provide the means to participate (meaning the board). Or some other reason, not sure, maybe he has stated his purpose somewhere already, and I just havent read it.

Whats interesting in this case is that there are different rules here than there are at CF for example but the same owner, so there is some instruction for moderation as to what will be tolerated.

I can (and have) posted the same verse of scripture here and no one says anything, but there I was banned for a verse of scripture, so it could probably be the owner does not know what his moderation is doing on his one forum (such as might be the case in CF) or could be giving two different sets of instructions between the two boards (or however many he has).

I think he owns the baptist board also (which seems more specific to a denomination) and so a more specific (or different rules) might obviously be expected, but between here and CF (which are both a bit of a smorgasboard of denominations) so I don't know where the differences might be between them.

I happened to have my ad blocker off yesterday and noticed one of the ads in the slider at the bottom of the page. Strange at the very least.

It must have been the same one I was thinking of - one for women? Some handbag/makeup spammer hijacked it.

No, it wasn't for just women. It was a regular Christian forum. It started as a pen pal site and moved to being a forum.

No, it doesn't, and before the ads kept giving me recommendations for middle aged women in my area.

And before anyone says that must be Mr. Duck being a snake, we don't have wifi. I am on a private data connection, and I can tell you what I am not looking up.
