Neither of you read that other thread in full, understanding what the atheist has experienced in his life, from what I read. Lizbeth, you tend to agree with Amigo, and now are follower of him (I say this as you pointed us out who click "likes" to Episkopsos" posts, so that is on you now), to shove dire need "to BELIEV E ON JESUS", rather then put your self in that atheist's shoes, and wonder, what the best way is to reach to him? Many of us who grew up in a Church will still experience a prodigal son's journey towards our Heavenly Father. Have you not experienced it yourself? Or are you just perfect in all your ways, as you see. Which I know, is not true, reading your posts here. I feel ashamed to be part of this forum, for all the other members who showed darkness in that other thread, towards a man seeking the only true "light" in this world. What a failure most of us are, to those who seek Him.

Don't be too discouraged @Azim. You can be the reason someone is proud to be on this forum. Forgive being disappointed in the ones you've mentioned and go forward in being a light.

I think he was talking about spiritual wealth, not monetary wealth. In fact, I don’t think I could have missed that if I tried.

The Saint - wealthy people full of faith, they are blessed through grace and they're wealthiest amongst us. Their faith is a testament to the power of grace, and they're a shining example of how faith and prosperity can go hand-in-hand.

Being blessed with wealth is often seen as a divine favor, a sign that one is walking in God's goodness.
Wealth provides the freedom to focus on spiritual growth, enabling individuals to use their time wisely and concentrate on understanding and fulfilling God's will, ultimately leading to sainthood.

Because of the damage of prosperity gospel preachers, I think its easy overcorrect into an anti-prosperity gospel.

2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

I believe God calls both the wealthy and the poor to obedience. Prosperity can be a sign of God's blessing at times. It's trusting in riches that is a sin, not having them. There are a lot of examples for this, like Job.

I have this idea that when God gives wealth, His intend is that it be used for His purposes.

My sister worked for a time for the Wycliffe Bible Translators, in their donations section. There was a fellow she knew, who lived in Seattle, I think it was. He rented a small apartment. He drove cheap used cars. He didn't travel. He spent his days working the stock market (God had gifted him for this), generating millions of dollars, which he donated all with the exception of his most basic needs.

Whenever I feel blessed by having something extra, I realize my responsibility to use it with wisdom!

Yes! Sometimes you give and are called to give and keep at it and God sees fit to bless you with a greater capacity to give.

I agree that God may show His power and kindness in materially prospering some believers who had previously been oppressed and in want, etc.....but sister, anyone is in error if they think or teach that gain is Godliness....it isn't. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, blessed be His Name. It is more likely for most of God's people to have sufferings in this world, and it is for our spiritual good. We certainly could wish that nobody suffered, in body or in bank account, but it is not the norm. "Be not surprised at the painful trial...."

It doesn't look as if the current material prosperity of the west is going to last much longer......while it lasted I believe it did show the world the blessing that came to a society that was at least generally adhering to Christianity. But not having money and material things to trust in is the only way we can learn to rely on God, and He can't show His power if there is no need for it. It is like a cycle....Israel was in slavery, then God blessed and delivered and helped them and they prospered, then that caused them to forget God, so He had to bring them again through suffering, then He forgave and prospered them again....and on it goes. It's because of the reality of the intractable nature of the flesh unfortunately.

There is a Psalm that shows this up and down cycle...I almost got dizzy reading it when I first really took note of it, kind of sea sick, lol. And soon we are coming to the end of the age, and for those who are older at least the end of our lives. We need to buckle up and have our eyes looking up and affections and hopes above either way. This world and everything in it are only temporal.. I'm often praying and crying for the Lord to strengthen and make His people ready to face the things that are coming, very much including myself. I'm getting old and tired, never felt so weak and vulnerable, at a time when this world is imploding around me, and I need His strength because mine is gone.
