Hello and welcome; This is a in-depth study of 1 John C.5 you can view the previous chapters from before if you would like. These will be verse by verse comments, and added Greek words from time to time.

Check the word of God to what is being said and you judge for yourself between you and God what is true. Anything that is bad throw it away, hold on to those things that are good! Believe and trust the Father and the Son.

1 John 5

Young's Literal Translation

5 Every one who is believing that Jesus is the Christ, of God he hath been begotten, and every one who is loving Him who did beget, doth love also him who is begotten of Him:

Verse 1: Everyone who is believing (trust/entrust/faith in) that Jesus is the Christ (Anointed one ~ Messiah. of God

Has he been begotten: Anyone who believes on the Lord Jesus Christ; God has adopted, and believers are now children of God through faith, and believing. Everyone is loving Him who God did (begot) (reborn again by the spirit by turning towards God) ~ God love also him who is born again of Christ Jesus? ~ Through the spirit of truth by hearing the Gospel of the life, death. burial and resurrection.​

Cognate: 25 agapáō – properly, to prefer, to love; for the believer, preferring to "live through Christ" (1 Jn 4:9,10), i.e. embracing God's will (choosing His choices) and obeying them through His power. 25 (agapáō) preeminently refers to what God prefers as He "is love" (1 Jn 4:8,16). See 26 (agapē).

With the believer, 25 /agapáō ("to love") means actively doing what the Lord prefers, with Him (by His power and direction). True 25 /agapáō ("loving") is always defined by God – a "discriminating affection which involves choice and selection" (WS, 477). 1 Jn 4:8,16,17 for example convey how loving ("preferring," 25 /agapáō) is Christ living His life through the believer.

5043 téknon – properly, a child; (figuratively) anyone living in full dependence on the heavenly Father, i.e. fully (willingly) relying upon the Lord in glad submission. This prompts God to transform them into His likeness.

5043 /téknon ("a child living in willing dependence") illustrates how we must all live in utter dependence upon the Lord (moment-by-moment), drawing guidance (care, nurture) from our heavenly Father. 5043 (téknon) emphasizes the childlike (not childish) attitude of heart that willingly (gladly) submits to the Father's plan. We profoundly learn this as we are receptive to Christ speaking His rhēma-word within to impart faith (cf. Ro 8:16,17 with Ro 10:17, Gk text).

4 because every one who is begotten of God doth overcome the world, and this is the victory that did overcome the world -- our faith;

Verse 4: Because every person who is reborn of God; does overcome the world (by and through living by the spirit of Christ/Holy Spirit.

And is the victory that did over come the world -- our faith

Overcome: 3528 nikáō(from 3529 /níkē, "victory") – properly, conquer (overcome); " 'to carry off the victory, come off victorious.' The verb implies a battle" (K. Wuest).

Victory: Cognate: 3529 níkē (a feminine noun) – conquest; a particular expression of victory, resulting from receiving (obeying) the faith Christ imparts (i.e. His inworked persuasion). See 3528 (nikáō).

Faith: 4102 pístis (from 3982/peithô, "persuade, be persuaded") – properly, persuasion (be persuaded, come to trust); faith.

Faith (4102/pistis) is always a gift from God, and never something that can be produced by people. In short, 4102/pistis ("faith") for the believer is "God's divine persuasion" – and therefore distinct from human belief (confidence), yet involving it. The Lord continuously births faith in the yielded believer so they can know what He prefers, i.e. the persuasion of His will (1 Jn 5:4).

[4102 (pistis) in secular antiquity referred to a guarantee (warranty). In Scripture, faith is God's warranty, certifying that the revelation He inbirthed will come to pass (His way).

Faith (4102/pistis) is also used collectively – of all the times God has revealed (given the persuasion of) His will, which includes the full revelation of Scripture (Jude 3). Indeed, God the Lord guarantees that all of this revelation will come to pass! Compare Mt 5:18 with 2 Tim 3:16.]

1. The root of 4102/pistis ("faith") is 3982/peithô ("to persuade, be persuaded") which supplies the core-meaning of faith ("divine persuasion"). It is God's warranty that guarantees the fulfillment of the revelation He births within the receptive believer (cf. 1 Jn 5:4 with Heb 11:1).

Faith (4102/pistis) is always received from God, and never generated by us.​

3962 patḗrfather; one who imparts life and is committed to it; a progenitor, bringing into being to pass on the potential for likeness.

3962 /patḗr ("father") is used of our heavenly Father. He imparts life, from physical birth to the gift of eternal life through the second birth (regeneration, being born again). Through ongoing sanctification, the believer more and more resembles their heavenly Father – i.e. each time they receive faith from Him and obey it, which results in their unique glorification.

[3962 /patḗr ("father") refers to a begetter, originator, progenitor – one in "intimate connection and relationship" (Gesenius). Holy:
40 hágios – properly, different (unlike), other ("otherness"), holy; for the believer, 40 (hágios) means "likeness of nature with the Lord" because "different from the world."

The fundamental (core) meaning of 40 (hágios) is "different" – thus a temple in the 1st century was hagios ("holy") because different from other buildings (Wm. Barclay). In the NT, 40 /hágios ("holy") has the "technical" meaning "different from the world" because "like the Lord."

Who ever so believes in the Son of God ~ Has the testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ with-in along with the spirit of Christ, and the holy spirit from God. A believer has the testimony of the Father, the Word, and The Holy Spirit as they are testifying things about heaven which are true. That by believing we can become children of God, partaker of heavenly things, from a heavenly kingdom, from above and not here on earth.

Whoever so is not believing in God, they do not believe in the testimony concerning his son, because they do not care, and have no desire to have anything to do with God, (Our flesh naturally hates anything having to do with faith/spirit because the spirit and flesh fight each other daily.)​

11 and this is the testimony, that life age-during did God give to us, and this -- the life -- is in His Son;

Verse 11: This is the testimony: that life age-during did God give to us

A relationship of life did God give to us, while we are taped into the vine, and know we are the branches and God gives the increase, life will be given to us by the spiritual aspect of life.

Having patience, peace, gentleness, love, kindness, by the spirit through faith in the Lord JEsus Christ and the Father.

And this -- the life-- is in His Son. ~~ Life is found inside of the Lord Jesus Christ​

Verse 10: He who is believing in the Son of God; Has the testimony in Himself

Who ever so believes in the Son of God ~ Has the testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ with-in along with the spirit of Christ, and the holy spirit from God. A believer has the testimony of the Father, the Word, and The Holy Spirit as they are testifying things about heaven which are true. That by believing we can become children of God, partaker of heavenly things, from a heavenly kingdom, from above and not here on earth.

Whoever so is not believing in God, they do not believe in the testimony concerning his son, because they do not care, and have no desire to have anything to do with God, (Our flesh naturally hates anything having to do with faith/spirit because the spirit and flesh fight each other daily.)​

11 and this is the testimony, that life age-during did God give to us, and this -- the life -- is in His Son;

Verse 11: This is the testimony: that life age-during did God give to us​

A relationship of life did God give to us, while we are taped into the vine, and know we are the branches and God gives the increase, life will be given to us by the spiritual aspect of life.

Having patience, peace, gentleness, love, kindness, by the spirit through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and the Father.

And this -- the life-- is in His Son. ~~ Life is found inside of the Lord Jesus Christ​

12 he who is having the Son, hath the life; he who is not having the Son of God -- the life he hath not.

Verse 12: A believer who is having the Son ~ Fellowship ~ Hath the life (Light - can see)

He who is not having the Son of God ~~ The life he hath not. (Darkness - blind)​
