A frequently occurring topic in many contexts.
“Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” (Matthew 24:32–35)

This fig tree?

I checked it on the Internet. Today average lifespan is 82 years.

Generation can also mean a time covering distinct issues.

Going by 82 years from 1948 is 2030.

As far as similarities go, today bears little similarity to 1948.

So which definition of generation is used. I don't know.

But I don't think it can be similarities because things are so similar now.

But it does deny his arguments.

The other way to look at it is as long as somebody who's alive in 1948 remains alive is what is meant.

These realities prevent exacting dates setting.

You are trying to gain understanding outside of the single verse parable prophecy and as such you are missing the time span indicated in the parable by linking to a word further down in the chapter as if that word is associated with the Parable of the Fig Tree. The meaning of the word generation is that it is referring to a very long period of time, probably around 1,000 plus years.

That is great. What is you understanding just from this one verse parable, i.e. Mat.24:32?
Let me sum it up simply.

Israel was a covenant nation that was given a mission to evangelize the world. They failed, so they were unfruitful.

The fig tree was nice and pretty.

But it had no fruit, just like Israel.

But it was still a figtree and it belong to God and per its covenants it would one day bear fruit. But to do this it had to be a nation.

In 1948 Israel became a nation again. But not the covenant nation.

So it was simply beginning to sprout leaves which meant later it would bloom and bear fruit.

In 1948 it became a nation again, so it was sprouting leaves. But it still had a long way to go to bear fruit.

So there is a contrast here of Israel as a nation in Israel as a people, the Jews.

The nation ceased in 70 A.D., but the people went on.

Israel is Jesus and those who accept him. God removed the unbelievers and will reattach them only through faith in Christ. Today's state of Israel has nothing to do with biblical Israel.

Only in your mind.
If you study Jewish history, circumcision made one a Physical Jew. Jesus abolished circumcision thereby abolishing physical Jews in the biblical sense. Only if any accept Christ will they be reattached to Israel.

I asked specifically for you to comment on Matt.24:32 and you commented on all the parables about fig trees and not on that one verse.

What I had posted previously is still correct: -

It seems to me that you have not learned the lesson from the fig tree as Christ was suggesting to the disciples to do when he told that one verse parable..

"Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.
