"On behalf of himself and his household" – This highlights the necessity for Aaron, as the high priest, to first make atonement for his own sins. Before he could mediate for the nation, his own sin had to be dealt with. This is crucial in understanding the imperfection of the Old Covenant priesthood, compared to Christ, our sinless High Priest (Hebrews 7:26-27), who did not need to offer a sacrifice for Himself because He was without sin.

This is where your "doctrine" is blasphemous..

J.
While you are working on that I will show how this Scripture is also fulfilled in Christ.

There were imperfections in Aaron's service before Yahweh, for which he had to make atonement. But his action also foreshadowed the offering of the Lord who was perfect in all his ways.

@Johann (here we agree!)

It was through (The blood of the antitypical bullock, i.e. his own blood, that the Lord was "brought again from the dead" to inherit life eternal (Heb. 13:20).

13:20 Now may the God of peace who by the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep, our Lord Jesus Christ Heb 13:20.

The Lord needed redemption from the mortality which he inherited as a member of the human race, and this was the way appointed of Yahweh (see John 10:17-18).

Appearing in the likeness of sinful flesh (though never falling under its influence), he recognised the need of putting the lusts of the flesh to death. His crucifixion dramatised in fact, what he figuratively accomplished in life. Both in life and in death, therefore, he witnessed to the need of denying the flesh if one would attain unto life eternal. He came in our nature: a nature that has inherited mortality through sin in the beginning, and therefore is personified as "sin" (see Rom. 5:19,21; 6:1,6,10 etc. 2 Cor. 5:21; Heb. 7:27; 9:12).

Johann its this truth you are yet to acknowledge.

You know the Apostles understood this from OT to NT....its the foreign teaching you have adopted which is why you cannot provide evidence for your beliefs.

The word "atonement" is from the Hebrew kaphar, signifying covering. The state of mortality is represented as one of nakedness (2 Cor 5:4), and as such needs to be "covered".

Christ's offering, in obedience to the will of his Father, ensured his resurrection to life eternal (John 10:17; Heb. 13:20).

In his case, the nakedness of mortality was clothed upon by divine nature (2 Cor 5:4).

For we groan while we are in this tent, since we are weighed down, because we do not want to be unclothed, but clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 2 Co 5:3–4.

@Johann – imagine if you tried to teach that Christ did not require being clothed!?

The whole atonement model falls over!!!

Nakedness, however, is also a symbol of active sin (Rev 16:15), and in that light, Aaron had a double nakedness: one of mortality, and the other of personal transgression.

The Lord was not related to the latter, except potentially, inasmuch as he "bare our sins in his own body on the tree" (1 Pet 2:24).

The manner in which he did that we have already discussed.

@Johann

Did you notice the Aaron not only offered for himself but also for his house?

Christ did likewise, for he offered for "his house".

3:6 But Christ is faithful as a son over God’s house. We are of his house, if in fact we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope we take pride in. Heb 3:6.

as well as for himself (Heb 10:4-14).

See Pauls comment as he contrasts Christ's offering with those of the High Priests under the law (Heb 7:26- 28)

7:26 For it is indeed fitting for us to have such a high priest: holy, innocent, undefiled, separate from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. 7:27 He has no need to do every day what those priests do, to offer sacrifices first for their own sins and then for the sins of the people, since he did this in offering himself once for all. Heb 7:26–27.

How many times did Christ die to sin?
How many times did he offer for himself and his house?

Answer here Johann _________

Now that you have been shown truth...can you see how your understanding fails to map to Aaron?

Christ was held under the dominion of death and had the same mortal nature as you.

Can you see why that was absolutely necessary?

It has to do with God's righteousness in dealing with the dominion of the "law of sin and death" in the earth!

How does God rightly remove it while upholding His Divine Principles?

Raises up a son in Sins flesh and conquers it in him by putting it to death.

For what "sin" did Christ die?
Clarify please, as I am uncertain about you . . . Is Jesus our Creator God, called YHWH, incarnated into human flesh? We can begin any conversation you wish with that question.

Oh, and calling Johann satanist, shame on you! You reveal your heart in your words. So I think I'm just going with my first inclination, I'm not interested.

Much love!

Firstly, answer the question put before you first before asking your own
Secondly, Johann copy and pasted (again) Mysticism and then said we do not believe the same to mean he believes in mysticism.
The record is true and accurate...which is why he never revisited the post or clarified his position because in hindsight he can see his own error.

@Johann As I have said many times to you over your chats - your commentaries cannot provide you the knowledge of the wisdom of God which is in Christ Jesus and the redemptive work God did in him. Their foundation is in the doctrines of men which is why their house cannot stand.

Here is a truth you will need to concede...The Apostles understanding of the true nature of Christ is not that of the imported doctrines of today. I know you have already witnessed this in our discussions.

This thread and the questions unanswered requires your attention if you are to find the true Christ.

May God open your heart to the Victory which He wrought in him.

and take a censer full of coals of fire from the altar before the Lord and a full double handful of finely ground fragrant incense, and bring them inside the veil-canopy Le 16:12.

Christ is our golden Altar of incense. His redemption means that "he ever lives to make intercession for us" Heb 7:25

As you know Johann he is the High Priest (chosen from among men) and now is the means of which man comes to God.

For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Tim 2:5

Hebrews 5:1-2 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.

Can you see it @Johann @marks

@Johann does it concern you these verses are all fulfilled in Christ?

and take a censer full of coals of fire from the altar before the Lord and a full double handful of finely ground fragrant incense
Le 16:12.

As the moment of his death approached, the Lord Intensified his prayers to the Father; his hands were "full of incense beaten small".

Matt. 26:3, 44; John 17; Heb. 5:5-9

So also Christ did not glorify himself in becoming high priest, but the one who glorified him was God Heb 5:5.

It's a shame this view of the Lord is hidden from you Johann, as you are sincere in your faith just need to put away those commentaries.

The High Priest made his way through the holy place, to the Most Holy beyond. The heavy curtain there barred his approach, but this was drawn aside on the Day of Atonement for the purpose of entrance. In the antitype, the veil of the temple was torn asunder by angelic hands when the Lord expired upon the stake.'

Look up Heb. 10:20

Paul further comments: "Seeing then that we have a great High Priest, that is passed through the heavens . . ."

4:14 Therefore since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God Heb 4:14.

The "heavens" of this verse relate to both the holy place and the Most Holy, and describe how that the Lord passed through the former state whilst on earth, in order to attain unto the state of immortality beyond the veil, that is to say, his flesh at the completion of his service.

Do you understand the significance of this Johann & Marks? If you need me to explain this more fully let me know!

@Johann @marks can you both see how perfectly this ensample of the Aaronic High Priest spoke to The exalted Lord Jesus Christ on the Day of Atonement?

What we are finding is every aspect of Lev 16 finds fulfillment in Christ.
