I totally agree with marksman and the scriptures he put forth were great for this topic. These pastors of mega churches are mainly teaching prosperity, and the bible says the opposite: Matthew 6:24 "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. And Luke 16:13 "No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."Also 1 Timothy 6:10 "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.Hebrews 13:5Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."1 Peter 5:2 "Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve;Ecclesiastes 5:10Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless. These verses talk about being rich.Proverbs 28:6Better a poor man whose walk is blameless than a rich man whose ways are perverse.Matthew 19:23Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.Matthew 19:24Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."Luke 6:241 Timothy 6:9"But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort."People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.James 2:5 Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?The reason the rich can't enter the kingdom of God is these people are too rapped up in their wealth, living a great live, as far as having all the money they need. What will they need God for, there life is great. They have no reason to turn to God.
