That's how I feel as well.
I think we have a generation that is without God, with adults trying to prevent them from finding God, and they are crying out for help, but they don't know if anyone hears them.
Yes, there is not much of God to be seen in people. This includes too many parents and teachers, etc. That is to say all of the ones who the children should be able to look to for answers. They may look or ask but there is no answer because the adults themselves are effectively either dead to God or still spiritual children themselves. Most people carrying the title of Minister or Priest or Pastor are little help or are not easily accessible.

There has always been garbage as there have always been poor people. Our nation is faltering and stumbling as it never has before. The only answer for it is God, but while it is never too late while there is time, it is unlikely that this people and this government will take the necessary action:
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." II Chron 7:14
God's promise from 3000 years ago is still good, but who are His people and how many are willing to humble themselves like that? Nineveh did it when the prophet Jonah preached to them, but I would suggest that these United States for the most part would ignore any Jonah.
Give up? No, each of us who believes God must touch Him daily in worship and prayer and also work as He directs us to do what we can to save anyone whose hearts are open.

Most of all, who is willing to truly seek His face ? Through the face of Jesus, who is well able to manifest Himself to whomever He will ? Also Him, being the express image of our Father, if we have seen Him ( Jesus ), He said in the Bible,, we have seen the Father, He and the Father are ONE.
We cannot claim to have looked upon the very face of God in His Kingdom, just yet, but by and through Jesus, we have a clear picture of His way of being....But we CAN and should seek the face of Jesus :)

This is one of the reasons suicide rates have gone up amongst teens.
I do believe it's the second highest cause of death.
