Subtitle. Discerning American Exceptionalism From Cultural Marxism. Reconciling Aristotle to Jesus

This thread is inspired by a question from @TitusTwoWife … Subversive Cultural Marxism has co-opted American ideals on an unsuspecting public, resulting in what I call THE PERVERSION OF EQUALITY. America was founded on the principle of equal rights, which is a far different from "equality" as the Cultural Marxists intend.

Rights, bestowed equally by God, are our righteous and noble beginning. Equality of outcomes as dictated by central planners is the evil end. From an economic perspective, it’s always the same. It starts with glee over coveting “free” healthcare and ends with people dumpster diving for food.

Spiritually, there is hardly anything more important to discern in life than inequality for a world that cannot ultimately discern that good is not equal to evil, right is not equal to wrong is easy pickings for the Adversary. Consider this quote from Aristotle from 324 BC: The worst form of inequality is to try to make unequal things equal.

Jesus too advocated inequality @ Matthew 15:24 Then Jesus said to the woman, “I was sent only to help God’s lost sheep—the people of Israel.” In today’s globalist, Cultural Marxist view, this is racist or xenophobic. It certainly speaks against THE PERVERSION OF EQUALITY. The passage continues with giving the status of Israel as “children” (heirs) and non-Israel the status of “dogs” (sub-human) All of this supports Ordo Amoris. Look at the inequality of God's ultimate solution to evil; there are the chosen saved and the damned who end in the Lake of Fire and eternal death.

Cultural Marxists want us to get all wrapped up in sexism and racism, ignore the above and embrace the apparent equality of Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Again, the importance of discernment. “In Christ Jesus” we are one but that doesn’t mean those other qualifiers don’t exist. In philosophy, the equality portion and discernment portion of valid definitions are called Genus and Differentia. Forks and spoons are all one part of silverware and in that respect, they are equal. The differentia remains that they have different primary purposes. The absurdity of THE PERVERSION OF EQUALITY is shown in the evolution of modern American politics.
  1. Feminist movement through 1960’s. Men and women are equal.
  2. Equal pay for equal work.
  3. 2nd wave Feminism. Equal pay, regardless of work.
  4. 3rd wave Feminism. Believe her.
    • Men and women are not equal when the inequality benefits women.
    • Guilt by accusation
  5. Supreme Court nominee nominated for being a woman cannot define what a woman is.
The free market efficiently shows our inequality. Some aren’t worth “minimum wage” (the real minimum wage = $0) and others are worth more. Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes to make over $500M in reworked deal.

Just reading the first of the post I'd.didagree.that America was founded on the principle of equal rights.

As the 13th and later 19th Amendments to our Constitution demonstrate by their language, this perception of human equality and civil rights is error.

Equality of all peoples is also not found in the Bible.

It’s important to note how invoking THE PERVERSION OF EQUALITY is pushed by the Left. There was a Supreme Court decision today where the Left asserted that “AT” means the same thing as “IN.” At your house is not the same as in your house.

This seems trivial until one realizes the Left’s agenda depends on losing such discernment.

Sure. Normally, my OP’s ask a question of what people think.
I'm new here and have experienced both pleasant and unpleasant company. Rather than cause increased tension, while acclimating, my asking wasn't meant to insinuate anything.

I was reminded of the old rallying cry of “sex, drugs, and rock and roll” that captured a rebellious spirit in its day, today’s cultural conversation often presents a similar face under new packaging—same-sex marriage, universal healthcare tied to gender transitions, abortion, and broader cultural redefinition. The article you shared rightly senses something amiss in how equality is being redefined, and it attempts to push back with biblical and philosophical insights. With that in mind, I offer the following observations not as harsh critique, but as an invitation to consider a few areas where the piece might be strengthened or clarified for greater faithfulness and clarity.

The core argument against the “perversion of equality” (equal rights vs. forced outcomes) is understandable, yet it slips into logical pitfalls such as straw-man portrayals of feminism and Cultural Marxism, slippery-slope economic claims, and selective proof-texting (e.g., Matthew 15:24 framed more starkly than its covenantal context supports, while downplaying the full arc of redemptive mercy). Appealing to Aristotle alongside Jesus also creates tension with sola scriptura, which calls us to let Scripture stand as the final authority rather than reconciling external philosophy as a near-equal partner. Overall the piece pushes a traditionalist corrective rather than any social-justice agenda, but softening some rhetoric and grounding claims more tightly in the whole counsel of Scripture could make its discernment even sharper.

One additional foundation worth highlighting is the Declaration of Independence’s appeal to rights “endowed by their Creator”—a premise rooted in self-evident truths and natural law reasoning accessible through reason and observation, independent of explicit biblical exegesis. This Enlightenment-era formulation points toward a transcendent source of human dignity and equality before the law without immediately requiring scriptural citation, yet it aligns harmoniously with the biblical witness of a personal Creator who grants inherent worth to every image-bearer. Considering this natural-rights foundation can strengthen the article’s case for ordered liberty while remaining bridge-building for readers who approach the topic philosophically first.

The piece commits several fallacies. It deploys a straw man and slippery slope by equating any push for equal rights or outcomes with "Cultural Marxism" leading inevitably to economic collapse and moral inversion (e.g., free healthcare → dumpster diving; feminism's progression to "believe her" and inability to define "woman"). This oversimplifies opponents while ignoring distinctions between legal equality, opportunity, and enforced outcomes. There's also false equivalence/dichotomy in pitting "equal rights" against all "equality," and appeal to authority by elevating Aristotle's quote on inequality as harmonious with Jesus, treating philosophy as co-equal to Scripture. Scripturally, Matthew 15:24 is misapplied: Jesus' initial focus on Israel reflects covenantal priority and salvation history (cf. Romans 1:16), not a general endorsement of ethnic "sub-human" status or Ordo Amoris as natural hierarchy—He ultimately heals the woman, showing mercy crossing boundaries. Galatians 3:28 is correctly contextualized as spiritual unity "in Christ," but the article's broader framing risks proof-texting to defend earthly inequalities rather than letting Scripture interpret Scripture.

This conflicts with sola scriptura by subordinating biblical authority to extra-biblical sources (Aristotle) and cultural-political framing, using philosophy to "reconcile" to Jesus instead of deriving the framework principally from the text. It does not advance a social justice agenda; rather, it explicitly critiques Cultural Marxism, feminism, and enforced outcome equality as perversions antithetical to Christian discernment of good/evil and G-d's sovereign choices (e.g., election, final judgment). The agenda appears traditionalist/conservative, defending American founding principles and natural distinctions against perceived leftist inversion.

Have you read George Orwell's Dystopian novel,1984?

For years now New Speak has been inserting itself into American nomenclature.

I finished the novel in a day. Ever since then I've noticed parts of its narrative manifesting in the world.

Welcome to the forums! Thanks for your thoughtful reply. A bit too academic for the audience but I did want to make a rebuttal against committing several fallacies. Because this is not an academic setting, I intended to simply state the argument. Criticizing it as an over-simplification? Guilty as charged. (For decades, I’ve strived for brevity over comprehensive analysis so as to not lose the casual reader. I make no assertion of covering a topic comprehensively.)

In no way do I pretend to make unbiased commentary. Not sure where you’re coming from in asserting there is ANY push for equality that does not lead to disaster, embroiled in your own legalism and not recognizing that I fully 100% intended to advance traditionalist/conservative and patriotic defense of American founding principles against ACTUAL (not perceived) leftist inversion. That is, American exceptionalism is rooted in the fact that our rights are given by God and recognized by the State, and reject entitlements by any other name as anathema to limited government, whose proper role is merely to assist in protecting our God given rights.

Perhaps I should have noted the Founding Fathers were classic Liberals who embraced equal rights in a pluralistic society, which bears no resemblance to modern Leftists who sometimes co-opt their terms. I didn’t for 2 reasons. First, brevity sake. Second, I take it as self-evident to inquiring minds.

Regarding your apparent aversion to reconcile Aristotle with Jesus, I suggest you read the work of Thomas Aquinas who devoted himself to that synthesis. Surely, we will talk more on Scripture in other threads. I thought it important for the reader to not lose sight of the fact that the origins of equality is NOT Biblical but in man’s philosophy, aka Cultural Marxism. YMMV. Make a Blessed Day.

I sure have - multiple times.

Rush Limbaugh observed the Left didn’t take 1984 as the warning it was intended but instead use it as a play book.

Did you notice @Bombastic’s academic critique in supposing the OP is in error on the grounds that any inequality is merely perceived and not acknowledged as real? Or that all sides should be treated as equally valid? That’s THE PERVERSION OF EQUALITY 101.

Classical libertarianism in its extremes: the autonomy of man to govern himself without interference. As unbelief spreads, this ideal grows hazy. For the believer, true freedom and liberty mean release from sin’s bondage—liberty to serve G-d with gladness. For the unbeliever, freedom devolves into humanistic sensuality: personal pleasure as the highest good, regardless of what is truly right or evil.

This goes back to Eden,
  1. ye shall be like G-d, gods, or the court of heavenly beings; that is, divine and not only wise but sovereign.
  2. ye shall be autonomous, that is, able to rule or govern sovereignly over yourselves.
That's the pitch at the tips of the double forked tongue and its lies.

Yes, you explained that perceived notion for the sake of brevity.

Agreed. A few years ago I watched a youtube vid of a graduation address. The Christian speaker said something profound to me. Freedom is a great means but a terrible ends. I never thought about that.

The Founding Fathers equated Liberty with Virtue. The noble end of Liberty is not only our happiness (soulful) but to glorify God (spiritual).

@TitusTwoWife, I just thought of simple way of putting it. American ideals of equal rights and Biblical justice (Romans 2:11 (CEV) God doesn't have any favorites!) advocate for fair competition, where the same rules in a competition apply to everyone - Black, White, Male, Female, Young, Old, Jew, Gentile, etc.

Cultural Marxists idea of "equality" is that the race ends in an infinite tie among all competitors, making the rules different for every competitor so the outcome is the same for all. Cultural Marxists idea of "equality" is the opposite of fair.

This is why socialism invariably fails, people stop playing once they realize the game is rigged so they can't win.
