4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: - Ephesians 1:4.
Do you know what the Lord did basically in the Old Testament? He was proving to humanity they could not do it on their own. Not the condition that exsisted. He spent several thousand years allowing mankind to try to live the impossible and the point was made at the cross, humanity could not be pleasing to God and save themselves. That should be the end of the story but it is not; some of us (speaking for myself) have tried our debt level best to be all we can be for God. Some have been very successful at least on the surface.
Why would God give to man laws they could not keep? It would reveal their sin, but more importantly in the overall plan and purpose of God God was going to show humanity could not be what he wanted them to be in themselves. He had not created them to be something in themselves, he created them to contain the life of another and they had the wrong life and he was going to bring correction to the wrong life and give them the life that was intended before the creation of the world.
I won't get into it now but there is a different in the message of "before" the foundation of the world and "from" the foundation of the world. You need to study and know that. That is a time element before creation and after creation.
When Adam was created he was created a living soul with the ability to contain spirit. We know that from scripture; first we know it because he received when he fell a seed, in that seed is spirit, Genesis 3:15. Second we know because we were chosen to be in Christ before the foundation of the world. So Adam who was a living soul (not spirit, with no spirit, but a place for spirit) and was to in time contain Christ (spirit; 'he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit').
27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: - Colossians 1:27.
So we are just gleaning over the Old Testament and Old Testament law but God went over every little aspect of a human life that said "I can do it." He allowed it all to come to the surface, come to a head to use an Oklahoma term to show that man could not do it. You still cannot do it, it was never intended the believer do it, whatever that is. It was intended before the foundation of the world that you live by the life of another. That is not something that just comes into being, it is something that was in God before the foundation of the world and is his plan. It's not part of the plan, it is "the plan of God for mankind."
