Exodus 32:13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.

Here is one of the core promises of the gospel of the kingdom preached by the Lord Jesus and the twelve disciples (Matthew 4:23).

Israel was promised to inherit the land for ever.

Jesus came to confirm the promises made to Israel (Romans 15:8).

So then, how is the following true...

2Pe 3:7, But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
2Pe 3:8, But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
2Pe 3:9, The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
2Pe 3:10, But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
2Pe 3:11, Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
2Pe 3:12, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Isaiah 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.

Isaiah 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.

Very good...and also this (same concept, different scripture):

2Pe 3:13, Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
2Pe 3:14, Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
2Pe 3:15, And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

Doug, I would like to disagree with the Translation of the original source text of the Book of Exodus in that the translation of this verse presents context that is very wrong. What Moses spoke of was that God had promised to give the whole earth in the distant future, in the covenantal promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to Abraham and his descendants and when they will receive this inheritance, that it would be for all eternity/forever.

I agree with your statement that the paraphrasing of the source texts for our English Translations as I have presented is one of the core promises of the gospel of the kingdom preached by the Lord Jesus and the twelve disciples. However, when Jesus had begun His Ministry around 29 AD, God had already started the process of bringing the army into the Land of Canaan that would eventually scatter, what was left of the Israelite Nation, to the four corners of the earth. Jesus made no reference to the "Promised Land," as defined in Genesis 15:17-21, as such and that it would be returned to the nation of Israel in the distant future during His ministry.

Shalom

I am not sure I get what you are saying, but this passage conveys a broader sense of Israel's inheritance....it conveys the whole earth is given

Deuteronomy 4:40 Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever.

Doug, without a complete study of the original Hebrew Text for this verse, Deu 4:40, within the context within it is found within all of Deu 40, I would humbly suggest that this verse should be understood in this manner: -

40 You shall therefore keep His statutes and His commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land/{fertile} soil which the Lord your God is giving you for all time/a period of two complete days of the Lord."

This is more in keeping with Deu 4:25-31

25 "When you beget children and grandchildren and have grown old in the land/on the earth, and act corruptly and make a carved image in the form of anything, and do evil in the sight of the Lord your God to provoke Him to anger, 26 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you will soon utterly perish from the land/earth which you cross over the Jordan to possess; you will not prolong {the two} days {i.e. of the Lord} {spent} in it, but {it} will be utterly destroyed/become devastated and decimated. 27 And the Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where the Lord will drive you. 28 And there you will serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell. 29 But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul. 30 When you are in distress, and all these things come upon you in the latter days, when you turn to the Lord your God and obey His voice 31 (for the Lord your God is a merciful God), He will not forsake you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them.
God's promised inheritance was the whole earth at the appointed time at the end of the present earth and that the inheritance would be for all time after that time of the judgement day of the Lord.

The promise of the Land of Canaan etc. found in Genesis 15:17-21 was only ever for a period of two days of the Lord, i.e. two Ages which is a little longer than 2,000 years.

Sadly you are painting a very different picture to the one that was painted by the Lord.

Shalom
