How does one keep the spirit of the law without keeping the letter?

Nobody is able to keep the letter of the 4th commandment, so it's treated like a regular day to go to church, and you do regular things that day; loosely observing the Sabbath.

30 years I've been observing the Sabbath, and not once did I, not any of my friends, consider the Sabbath "as just a regular day". But hey, if that's what you want to believe as your personal excuse for not observing it yourself, who am I to dissuade you?

Once again, you are saying something I didn't say. I keep the Sabbath every Saturday, for probably 70 yrs. I am part Jewish but, Rabbi's told me nobody is part Jewish, you are either Jewish or you are not, so I'm Jewish. I need no dissuading. I go to church on Sunday. The spirit of the Law is a different doctrine in addition to the Commandments. Like adding to it. How do you keep the "spirit" of the law, without rules. I'm born again from above by the Grace of God through the faith in Jesus Christ, the living word of God. I worship on Sunday and rest on the Sabbath, and Jesus is our Sabbath rest. Hebrews 4:3-10.

Okay, thanks for the clarification. Many however have different concepts as to what is actually finished. Also, there are several ideas as to what fulfilled is. Some say fulfilled is a synonym for cancel. Others, obedience. Mix just those two and multiply by 10 and you get confusion. Christ's point is clear. What makes things uncertain is when we read into His words our own private agendas. And when such as you and I speak, a combined history of 80 years in the church,, and many have the mistaken belief we are speaking with some sort of authority. But our opinions,, for all their antiquity, still fall flattter than last weeks roadkill. Truth will always remain truth, despite our best efforts to distort it.

God desires all sin to be eradicated from His creation. Sinners, only because they refuse to allow Jesus to separate them from their sin. God is not willing that any should perish, but that they all should come to repentance. If they stubbornly refuse to repent, and sin is to be destroyed, what is the alternative when they cleave to their sin? Immortalize sin because sinners won't let it go?

The SDA church has been around for 160 years, and is the fastest growing Protestant denomination. We havent gotten this far without having sound biblical answers to challenging questions such as yours.

The point is that Paul commanded us to not glorify any certain day...including ALL SABBATHS:

Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

Notice how the 7th day isn't excluded? It's because it is a shadow and type of the rest that is to come

No-one here is fooled because the makers were open about what they were doing. Defames? How is that? Graham is on record as stating the ten commandments as being still relevant in the Christian era. As did many other non Sabbath keeping protestants such as the Wesley brothers, and Dale Moody and numerous others of all denominations. That they didn't honour the Sabbath as far as we know is between them and God. But "defaming" Graham by using his voice to proclaim what is really the only logical conclusion to belief in the veracity of the moral law? I don't think so. Impersonators doing comedy acts would be more liable for defemation proceedings than the above.
But hey, it's a handy argument and method of ignoring the intent of the message right?

It's like the pseudopigrapha, such as Enoch. It's a lie from the get go. And someone who is willing to be deceptive in their presentation, that tells me to not trust them.

And until someone pointed to the print lower down, this was being accepted as though it were the man himself. Even the thread title credits Billy Graham. And that's false.

Maybe this is OK to someone if they agree with what is said. I think it's wrong regardless of what someone thinks of the material. But that's just me.

Did Billy Graham teach the keeping of the Sabbath? Not, "the 10C are relevant . . .", rather, I'm pointedly asking, Did he in fact teach the required keeping of the Sabbath Day as a day of rest?

It sounds like you are wanting us to think he did when he didn't.

Check the comments under the video, yep, they thought it was Billy Graham, and they were fooled. I put a comment there myself saying it was fake. I never said the ten commandments aren't valid today. They used Graham voice to synthesize what the video creators wanted to say, because they knew Graham had authority they didn't.

If we aren't keeping the Sabbath the way God intends, we are in the wrong. And clearly the Sabbath has been declared in Scripture to be our forever rest in Christ, not the keeping of a day as a religious observance. No, the true Sabbath is to rest in Christ being forgiven our sins.

Is anyone here in rebellion against that?

Wow..and here it is. The undeniable proof of legalism. Here is how Paul addressed you:

Probably because you are in the 7th day adventist cult. All they talk about is "sabbath sabbath sabbath" When you hear that much emphasis put on one topic you know you are dealing with a cult.

Well the RCC has been around much longer than that and doesnt make it right either. Why just the Sabbath? Why not sacrifice and the other laws? Love God and love one and other. Yep, Ephesians 4:4-7 - There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

I've learned a lot since joining this site.
Jesus said, there will be those who claim to know him but they are not his.

Firstly, bless you and thank you for your testimony.

You don't have to defend your Sabbath rest or faith to anyone.

The Sabbath was God's gift. Just as is Salvation.

When someone insists we cannot recognize the gift of Sabbath if we so choose,there's something wrong with their testimony.

Just like those who try to convince us, Salvation isn't eternal security and irrevocable.

There's something wrong with their testimony.

They're insisting Jesus,God,the word made flesh who dwelt among us, was born,lived,preached,and died to fulfill the prophecy and take the sins of the world upon himself at his death.

That whosoever believes in him will not perish in their sin but will have a tenuous life their human nature can revoke whenever they want to.

That's what they're telling us when they insist Jesus didn't know what he was talking about when he said,he would lose no one whom God gives him..

Thinking we can choose to run back into our fallen state and cast off God's seal at will, is not what it means to be reborn in Christ.

It is a side effect of that mindset that thinks they can choose to believe they're saved and just as easily decide they don't want to be Christian anymore.
That's materialism and egocentrism.
Putting on the name of Jesus and thinking it can be just as easily taken off .


And that is not how being regenerated through Christ works.

Those in Christ don't need to defend their union with God to those for whom the Christian title is but an accessory.
