Sixteen years ago, my doctor put me on HCQ to treat my Lupus. By the Fall, I went into remission. With no side-effects. I know drugs with harm potential. I have never been told that this drug is dangerous to the heart. Early this year, before the shutdown, I went to my doctor to ask for some HCQ, but when I talked with him, I couldn't recall the name. I told him that he had put me on it before. And that he had told me about it. He gave me a weird look, but whatever. Often, when I pick up my next script, I find what I asked for even though he never said okay. But not this time. Then the virus hit. Awhile later on, a friend dropped over to say hi. We saw him a few times over the next several days. About a week later, the first person in our house got sick with what appeared to be a cold. It spread throughout the house, but everyone got over it but me. I'm one of those at-risk people. I took an online covid 19 quiz and it said that I probably didn't have it. Then one day, I remembered about our friend that had been over and realized that the first day he had visited, he had just got back from his holiday in Spain. I retook the quiz and this time it said that I may have it, and to see a doctor right away. A short time later, my doc called to do a phone interview. I told him how I had been ill for a month and what the symptoms were. And about my friend. He said that I had 4 main symptoms of Covid 19. He told me to self-isolate for 2 weeks and gave me the Covid phone number for the testing office. I've tried many times to get through, but there was always no answer. And they don't take messages. Not that I really wanted to go, anyway. During this phone appointment, I asked for HCQ again, but due to media coverage, this time I knew the name. He didn't say anything. Thinking he'd forgotten my last request (which he sometimes does), I assumed that he's prescribe it this time, especially since it looked like I had the virus. But I still wanted it for Lupus, too. When I got my scripts, once again HCQ was missing. Even when he knew that I, being at risk as a senior and having a compromised immune system, could die if not treated. He placed his politics ahead of my well-being. I thought about this for awhile, then I recalled my second last office visit and the fact that I mentioned to him that I was a Trump supporter. Why not, I live in Canada. The next time I spoke with him, he went on about how Trump was an idiot who told people to inject bleach. The only people who talk like this are those on the far left. He was trying to say this was true. Just another lemming. Anyway, thanks for the post. Shalom.
