So we see that Tongues was understood by the ECF's as foreign languages, not just in Acts 2 but also in this most disputed letter of Paul's. See he also references the Tower of Babel as directly connected with this, showing again that he is speaking of human languages, which if foreign in a group setting with no interpretation, would only be understood by God, and indeed really only fully understood by God in the event of an interpreter getting some of it wrong.
Translation: You don't speak in tongues. But you thought those who do probably need some instruction? - LOL

But, also equally welcome speaking in unknown tongue, whereas, 'done in an appropriate manner', 'and with interpretation'.

So, due to charity, when interpreted to the common language that every one in the gathering understand what's being spoken. Therefore at the end, together they may all close by saying, Amen. By this, every one in the gathering are 'edified', besides also by, 'prophesying'.

i believe Apostle Paul probably witnessed already then and acted, what lawlessness we witnessed happening in the charismatic churches today.

There is, unfortunately, a rather common misconception among professing Christians, of a supposed spiritual gift called “the gift of tongues” in the church of the Lord Jesus Christ. When the truth of the Word of God is presented unto such people, many of them will shut their ears, cast the truth behind their backs, and judge themselves unworthy of everlasting life. Even as the Lord Jesus testified of the stiffnecked Jews in the days of his flesh saying that:

"...This people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them."
— (Matthew 13:15).

The supposed “gift of tongues” only serves one purpose; and that is to cause confusion. Wherefore it is written in the scriptures:

"If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God..."
— (1 Peter 4:11).

And again:

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."
— (Proverbs 3:5).

Jesus Christ said:

"...If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
— (John 8:31-32).

It is also written:

"To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them."
— (Isaiah 8:20).

Having said this, the scriptures testify that:

"...When the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilæans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judæa, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God."
— (Acts 2:1-11).

This is what the Word of God says; that they began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. When this was noised abroad, the Jews who were out of many nations under heaven, heard these tongues and they understood them.

This is that which will happen when men and women receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. They will:

"...Speak with tongues, and magnify God..."
— (Acts 10:46).

And this is a sign which will follow those that believe! For it is written that Jesus Christ said:

"...These signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues..."
— (Mark 16:17).

And Peter said that the promise is:

"...Unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call."
— (Acts 2:39).

Friends, this is the gift of the Holy Ghost. Christ in you, the hope of glory. All christians have this gift. It is written:

"...Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his."
— (Romans 8:9).

Now, concerning spiritual gifts:

"...There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: but all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will."
— (1 Corinthians 12:4-11).

We can see from the scripture that one of these spiritual gifts is a gift called divers kinds of tongues. It is followed with another spiritual gift called interpretation of tongues. Wherefore, there is no spiritual gift which causes Christians to speak with tongues called "the gift of tongues". But, there is a gift called divers kinds of tongues which causes some Christians to speak with diversities of tongues. Which means many different kinds of tongues, not just one. Though every Christian has the gift of the Holy Ghost (for if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his), not every Christian has the gift of divers kinds of tongues; or the gift of interpretation of tongues. This is why it is written in the scripture that God:

"...Hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?"
— (1 Corinthians 12:28-30).

But alas, some people subconsciously remove the words “divers kinds” which changes the definition of the entire gift; this is a dangerous thing indeed. We should be very careful with how we speak the Word of God. For it is written:

"Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you."
— (Deuteronomy 4:2).

Furthermore, the same spiritual gifts are not given to everyone in the church. Because:

"...As the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. And if they were all one member, where were the body? But now are they many members, yet but one body. And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: and those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, up

The only ones i know of with this blatant a misunderstanding of the things of the spirit are baptist believers.
But they are OBSESSED with their own error, to the point of attacking the body of Christ that walks in the spirit.
Your op is like telling a major league outfielder that there is no such thing as a home run.
And that fact is by my wisdom that homeruns ended 100 years ago. And i believe this 100% , because my pastor tells us this fact every sunday.
So ha ha ha when you think you see a home run it is fake.
Just keep cherry picking and reframing the word of God.
Silly ...but your religion is totally obsessed with that weirdness

Second-century Christians spoke of the gifts of the spirit as something of the past, which had only occurred during the apostolic era, when the apostles or some of those who they laid hands on directly were still alive.
Nope. You have no Biblical evidence those things have ceased, especially in light of the fact of Mark 13:9-11 and Revelation 11:3, which are events still future to us.

The teachings of Jesus in every translation on earth proves it. Few on earth know what Jesus actually taught.
That's an even more... ludicrous statement. Those in Christ today know very well what Jesus Christ taught in His Word, because those 'in Christ' actually READ what He says in His Word. People like you do not, otherwise you wouldn't have made such an idiotic statement like the above.

What you say is not to be trusted.

I know100% undeniable fact that Jesus is with the JW,s, You best relook sir. The teachings of Jesus in every translation on earth back the JW teachers--You should learn them. I shared 2 important ones with you yet you obviously reject them even though they are in every translation on earth. So who is in error? Jesus or you?
You are.
Your cult has a changed bible and they changed it to deny the deity of Jesus.

All the miraculous gifts have ceased a long time ago
Pure baloney.
My friend was having his foot cut off due to diabetes. A neighbor down the street and myself prayed for him over my cell phone.
When we got done my friend said wow that was powerful I really felt that.
Well guess what?
he called me the next day and said you'll never guess what happened. My foot totally healed and went back to normal color and looked like it had baby skin all over it.
The doctor just flat couldn't believe it (and this is an older man been in practice for many many years) and he said I have never ever seen anything like this.
So you are so far out in left field but I kind of feel sorry for you ,because what if you need God to move on your behalf and you slapped him that hard in the face?

Don't confuse prayer with the the miraculous gifts listed in 1 Cor 12:8-10. Prayer is not a gift nor one listed there as such. And yes, baloney is obviously what you believe based on more baloney.

Miraculously inspired knowledge has
You gonna hurt yourself with those miraculous stretches to dilute Jesus power.
You better cease before you do more harm to the kingdom.
Remember , it was the pharisees of that day that also hated the power.

Gifts of healing.
But to you it is a challenge to spread your soggy weak doctrine so that every miracle is reduced to your weak little prism of a powerless god.
God and Jesus are powerless abstracts to you.
Maybe one day you will meet Him as John did on patmos and Paul did on the damascus road.

AMEN

1 Corinthians 2:4-5 NIV
My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words,
but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power,
5 so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.

There are no miracle workers through which God channels his power. The gifts in NT biblical times were passed on and made manifest by the laying on of the apostle's hands, and they are all dead.

Here's something I've posted previously.

REPOST

Stephen was already a baptized believer, so according to Acts 2:38, he had already received the gift not gifts, which are the miraculous manifestation of the Spirit. It wasn't until they (the apostles) laid their hands on him, verse 6, that he was able to do the wonders as noted in verse 8

"5And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch: 6Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

7And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

8And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people."

Also to corroborate the fact that it was the laying on of the apostle's hands that enabled the gifts (manifestations of the Spirit, those listed in 1Cor 12:8-10), see the other scriptures below regarding how the spiritual were made manifest.

Acts 5:12

12And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.

Acts 8:14-17

14Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: 16(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) 17Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Acts 8:18-19

18And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, 19Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

Acts 19:6

6And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

2 Tim 1:6-7

6Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. 7For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Pretty clear when you look at ALL the pertinent scriptures, the MANIFISTATION of the Spirit, which Spirit was within the baptized believers in biblical times per Acts 2:38, was the result of the laying on of the apostle's hands.
