I can sin as much as I want to.....since I received my New Nature, I don't want to ......I could also stick my hand in a fire but I don’t want to do that either.......Obedience has its own built- in rewards....Sinning has Its own built- in punishments......a wise man rejects it.....
A wise man rejects sin if He has time to consider what he's doing in the moment, but our nature according to the flesh remains or there would no struggle with sin. Even the Apostle Peter was called out by Paul for his hypocrisy regarding his behavior among the gentiles when Jews came visiting. Of course, Peter never seemed particularly wise in the gospel accounts, but prone to act on impulse.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. 1 John 1:8-10
By the way, Solomon was called the wisest man that ever lived even by our Lord. Yet, Solomon was an idolater and ignored nearly every instruction given in scripture regarding the kings of Israel. Wisdom fails, but God ordained it to be that way.
18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written:
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”
20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 1 Corinthians 1:18-20
It may seem odd, but God knew or predetermined that everyone would fail at least once in life so that no flesh would boast in His presence.
With respect to Ariel, (the city where David dwelt)
13 Therefore the Lord said:
“Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths
And honor Me with their lips,
But have removed their hearts far from Me,
And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,
14 Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work
Among this people,
A marvelous work and a wonder;
For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish,
And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.”
15 Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord,
And their works are in the dark;
They say, “Who sees us?” and, “Who knows us?” Isaiah 29:13-15
This is one of those instances where we hope that this only applies to "Ariel" and not the " Israel of God", but who is Jeshurun? (Jeshurun grew fat and kicked.)
Wisdom is good, and so is prudence, but they aren't a shield, and they don't even make the list for the whole armor of God.
