There is a lot of good in your post...but perhaps too much credit is given to the church.

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2 Peter 2:1

Very well thought out explanation of tradition Faith. Some traditions are good some not so good, some even making the word of God invalid, and make us lose favor with God. One tradition that Christians have, the most important tradition which is actually commanded is keeping the passover which was instituted by Jesus 1989 years ago on the last day of his life. Those of the new covenant have been obeying that command for all those years, and how we look forward to observing it each year ourselves. This year the Christian Passover will be held on April 15th. What a wonderful sacrifice that was given in our behalf those 1989 yrs ago, and how we enjoy being a part of that passover celebration in remembering what was given in our behalf.

The church does not require scripture to know truth
I strongly disagree with that statement @theefaith . Men are fallible, God is not and as scripture is God's word scripture is infallible.
2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

Just a thought...
God told Adam don't do it. Adam must have told Eve, don't do it.
I see Adam as Jesus and Eve as the church.
The first collective body fell from grace.
The second Adam is the New man Jesus and we are the new Eve.
God told Jesus Do this. Jesus told Eve do this.
Eve are the Apostles and the teachers and the preachers, the saints.

Somewhere... thou shalt not suffer a woman to teach.. hmm. Where does that leave the church's authority?
It was Eve that led Adam to do it, and not the other way around.
So who should we really be listening to?

Lots of scripture I can use to back up these statement but I'm sure you all know most if not all of them.
Example:
1Co 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
1Co 15:47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

The marriage of the lamb is the same as Adam's declaration:
Eph 5:31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

1Ti 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
1Ti 2:13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
1Ti 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

If we follow traditions of any church aren't we going off the mark?

Just thinking..
Hugs

tradition

Law is not tradition, The Gospel is not tradition, Scripture is not tradition, Neither Father, Son nor Holy Spirit are tradition nor are they resposible for the creation of traditions. Tradition comes from men.
Jesus didn't preach tradition, He preached against it:

Matthew 7:7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

and so are the apostles Jn20:21-23

the church of the apostles was taught the truth of divine revelation by Christ in person, receiving the fullness of faith and truth, Jude 1:3 only then could the church write the New Testament!

So to say the church of the apostles needs the scripture to write the scriptures is idiotic?

to say the church of the apostles needs scripture to know truth is ridiculous!

matt 28:19 go and teach all nations, lk 1:4 instructed

how can they teach the truth and instruct men if they don’t have the truth?

the church of the apostles existed and possessed the fullness of truth long before the first letter of the New Testament was formed or even inspired, and centuries before it was by apostolic tradition cannonized in 381

do you not owe obedience to Christ the king?

do you not have to submit to and hear the men appointed by Christ to administer his kingdom and govern his church until he returns?

cos you think

I think because it is written:

Matthew 7:7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

Tradition comes from men.

how is washing the same thing as teaching?

there are two kinds of tradition
Customs and habits I am not referring to
But TRADITION which means teaching!

Divine tradition: the personal teaching of Jesus Christ to His church of the apostles!

Apostolic tradition: extension of the divine tradition to all time and places
Universal, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit to safeguard the truth and teach all nations!

Jesus Christ continues HIS ministry in His new covenant church thru Peter, the apostles, and their successors with the same mission, power, and authority!
Mt 16:18 Mt 28:19 Acts 1:17 acts 8:31 & 35 acts 9:4 Lk 10:16 Jn 8:32 Jn 13:20 Jn 15:5 Jn 16:13 Jn 20:21-22 eph 2:20 acts 2:42 1 Tim 3:15

God does not reveal His truth in a vacuum!

God does not set His true adrift on a sea of spiritual anarchy!

God sets His truth in His church, in the possession of His apostles to safeguard, to ensure it is not added to, or taken away from, or changed in any way!

And to teach the same truth to all nations and all ages!

Verified by scripture:

Matthew 24:35
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Matt 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost!

Jude 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints!

2 Thessalonians 2:15
Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness!
(all scripture not 66 books alone)

Must be instructed in the faith:

Lk 1:4 That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.

Matt 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…

Jn 29:21-23 as the father sent me, so I send you. (Same mission, power, and authority to teach all nations)

Lk 10:16 He who hears you, (His apostles) hear me.

Jn 13:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

Jn 8:32 You (the apostles) shall know the truth; and the truth shall make you free.

Jn 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
(His apostles)

But TRADITION which means teaching!

Then use the correct word: "teaching". Tradition means tradition, and teaching means teaching. That is why there are two different words, right? Because tradition comes from men, but the teachings came from God. So use the proper word "teaching".

You quite likely are not applying that to Jesus these words spoken by Jesus correct?:
(Matthew 15:6-9) . . .you have made the word of God invalid because of your tradition. 7 You hypocrites, Isaiah aptly prophesied about you when he said: 8 ‘This people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far removed from me. 9 It is in vain that they keep worshipping me, for they teach commands of men as doctrines.’”

Yes sir, some traditions are good, others should not be practiced.
