But the NLT says it even clearer

So it's clear that He is talking about Judgment day and not our day to day lives on earth where we all have been born again (PTL!) and have been led by the spirit into the wilderness to be tested for forty days...just like Jesus was.

No . he has been influenced by it and knows it not . most protestants are well under the sway and mindset
of that church , EVEN THOUGH they do not know it .
