You are correct about one thing. Our hope is not in the flesh. Scripture is very clear on that. “In me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing” ~Romans 7:18. Salvation, sanctification and final glory all stand or fall with Christ alone.

Scripture, however, never sets our hope in Christ against obedience to His Word. It never treats calling out sin as a substitute for grace.

You ask, Will sins ever be overcome by focusing on them? The Bible answers plainly. Sin is overcome by walking in the light, not by overlooking darkness. “If we walk in the light, as He is in the light… the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin” ~1 John 1:7. Walking in the light means sin must be named for what it is. God will not cleanse what we refuse to confess ~1 John 1:9.

You question whether quoting Scripture and speaking plainly actually overcomes sin. God already answered that. “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee” ~Psalm 119:11. “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth” ~John 17:17. There is no sanctification apart from truth spoken and received.

You say your hope is in your Savior. That is right. But Scripture defines what that looks like. “Why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” ~Luke 6:46. Trusting Christ is not set apart from submitting to His words.

The Bible never teaches that confronting sin can replace our dependence on Christ. It teaches the opposite. “Whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth” ~Hebrews 12:6. “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten” ~Revelation 3:19. Rebuke is not an expression of fleshly confidence. It is an act of love.

And Scripture directly answers the idea that focusing on grace means we avoid moral clarity. “Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid” ~Romans 6:1–2. Grace is not an opportunity to stop talking about sin. It is training to deny ungodliness ~Titus 2:11–12.

No one is saying victory comes from human effort or many words. Victory comes only from Christ working through His Word by His Spirit. But Christ never works apart from truth, and truth is not vague. It names sin, calls for repentance, and points sinners to a Savior who actually saves from sin, not just from consequences ~Matthew 1:21.

So yes, our hope is in Christ alone. And because it is, we take His Word seriously when it confronts us. Ignoring sin is not faith. Submitting to the truth is.

That is not focusing on the flesh. That is walking in the light.

Anyone else tired of being sold a pig and a poke? I know I am. Donald Trump sold us a lie. That lie was America first, or MAGA, for short. But now what do we hear? Well we were going to do America first, but politics is... too hard.

Well politics is hard; It's difficult to be the President of 350 million people. But this is the job Trump ran for, and now he has it because we put him there. Now he's backpedaling on America first and he's adopted the neocon ideology of Israel first.

You oppose giving Israel billions of dollars in foreign aid to conduct a genocide in Gaza while Americans are living paycheck to paycheck and our veterans get absolutely nothing? I don't want your support, says Trump. Or if you're Marjorie Taylor Green, he'll just call you a traitor...

He was elected to put an end to the wars. The Ukraine war is still raging, and now this administration is apparently entertaining the idea of going to war with Venezuela...

So let me get this straight. Trump's new plan is to start new wars, continue funding the wars we're already in, proxy or otherwise, suppprt ethnic cleansing in Gaza, and gaslight Americans into believing that inflation is down, that the high cost of groceries is a figment of their imaginations, and that Israel needs the government's support more than Americans do?

I would say to vote Democrat in the midterms to punish this fat New York sack of crap, but they're bought and paid for too. Remember Joe Biden? That's okay, he doesn't either. But I give him a little bit of credit; he did more to try to stop the Israelis than Trump ever did. He at least spoke out against the atrocities that everyone was witnessing by saying the Israeli conduct in Gaza was "over the top", even if he ultimately failed to make a difference...

But I'll tell you this: both of these parties have been captured by lobbies that represent foreign interests and the military industrial complex that Eisenhower warned us about decades ago. They don't represent the American people anymore, and I'm happy to see that more Americans are waking up to this fact, especially on the Republican side of the isle.

It took them a little bit longer to wake up, but that's probably due to many of them being Christian and believing that we must support Israel no matter what because "God's chosen people" and all that other assorted lunacy.

But even Christians have their limits on supporting genocide it would seem. Would Jesus be cool with 20,000 children being systemically exterminated for the ambitious idea of "Greater Israel"? I have my doubts.

"Well, if we don't support Israel, God will smite America!", says Lindsay Graham. These are the people in charge. This is the mantra. If you don't tow this insane line, you're labeled antisemitic or a traitor or both.
