As a car guy.... I drive only older vehicles like 2012 or earlier

And the ones that have connection capabilities, that is disabled once I take ownership

I could see some future day, to save costs, human controls will be eliminated, and people will talk to the AI in the car and tell the AI what they want to happen. Imagine when the AI refuses to comply, well could be good as the car will no longer be usable as a weapon for a deranged person.

Uh huh, and then AI will tell them to get chipped and "venerate" the one world leader and of course many who claim to be Christians will say "oh, OK no problem... where do I sign up and bow down?"

President Donald Trump is due to announce private sector investment of up to $500 billion of artificial intelligence infrastructure on Tuesday, two sources told Reuters.
OpenAI, SoftBank and Oracle plan a joint venture called Stargate, and have committed $100 billion initially and then up to $500 billion into Stargate over the next four years, the sources said.
CBS first reported the expected announcement.
SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, OpenAI’s Sam Altman and Oracle’s Larry Ellison are due at the White House on Tuesday, according to the CBS report.
Oracle and SoftBank did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Oracle shares were up 6% on the reports. Nvidia, Arm Holdings and Dell shares also rose.
In March 2024, The Information, a technology news website, reported OpenAI and Microsoft were working on plans for a $100 billion data center project that would include an artificial intelligence supercomputer also called “Stargate” set to launch in 2028. It was not immediately clear if the announcement was an update to this previously reported venture.

I wish this wasn't true. While it may have some good uses it will undoubtedly be used for evil like all other technologies.
I want nothing to do with it. I would have no problem going back to no cell and no internet days! Life was simpler. Thing is, they will likely make so we have to use it. I may go be Amish after all. haha

U could see how if all cars are driven by AI, then a lot more bad human drivers will exist as they won't have the needful experience of driving manually without the computer driving for them. When the system fails, total chaos on the roads. So, it better never fail. be failsafe if that is even possible. One failsafe way, is the car shuts down itself on a self check failure. It will then call home and notify people to come get you, with GPS they will know where you are.

Then you will have the people who actually enjoy and want to self-drive their cars and trucks. It is going to take a while for the public to go along with fully self-driving cars. As you notice, this is where both government and auto makers are headed, fully self-driving cars.

Just driving in huge traffic today.
AI could truly save many such hassles such in low speed traffic conditions for sure, just press a button and sit back, once it clears over 60KM/H or so and your back in charge !

AI control over cars etc could save the act of merging as well ? as a lot of idiots do not know how to merge into a Highway, many issues just with that alone.

I was just thinking the other days about the 1980's how people resisted progress, like having Aircon in cars, it's magic what that can do, clears the windscreen for one that's a Saftey reason alone, driving in the rain etc !
People would think A/C was a joke ! they were idiots !
Same with disc brakes on the front, many people bagged such, in love with drum brakes ? Idiots !
ABS Brakes are magic in the wet and stability control braking system is a real Saftey advantage for everyone on the roads, it keeps you safe in your lane ! save so much having a head on smash ! I had that come on twice driving the wifes car, very impressed ! she had it come on once. It's a must have, or one is totaly ignorant.

I do not believe in self control driving cars at all, like take me home or to work etc, but in thick traffic in the City's I think it could be so.

Oh seat belts people bagged such as well once and wearing a Helmet !

If it senses something is not right, like you are falling asleep or you pass out, have a medical emergency, die, or you are going to accelerate into a crowd of people, etc..., the AI will intervene and take control of the car. The AI will ask you questions, and react appropriately.

Quite possibly an AI could sense a dangerous scenario setting up and take control of another vehicle and intervene against a lethal threat, like from another non AI vehicle, driven by a person with perhaps bad intentions, as in cause a crash to save lives.

My wife hates it, she does not like being told what to do. she takes off the seat belt before I stop the car at home and car goes bing bing ! Or says, your hat is on the wrong way.
