Nukes are a great way to destroy the WHOLE WORLD.

Even a small, limited nuclear exchange between Pakistan and India would destroy the planet.

Not with nuclear winter or EMP but by a temporary change (2 week) in causes of ocean currents.
(There are many).
And EVERY TIME the flow dynamics of both air and oceans shift enough, (even though for a limited time before going back to normal) to begin a cascade of events that cause global catastrophe.

First off,
I don't live in fear. I don't spend time worrying about things I have zero ability to change or adjust.

China is VERY different from Russia. Russia is mostly two cities. St Petersburg and Moscow. That's the entire sum of their money and leadership. Easily destroyed by a limited Nuclear exchange that they will never recover from. So that's why nukes are a deterrent for them.

China is not deterred by losing Bejing. China has many large cities and leadership everywhere. They pull them in to Bejing punish them and tell them to stop misbehaving.

They actually would gain credibility if they took on Europe and USA and Japan and destroyed Taiwan. Of course the planet would be dying but....they would rule in hell.
