Eph 3:8-10
8 To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,
9 and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ;
10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places,
NKJV

I think that yes...it was deeply hidden...But it seems David especially, plus Abraham and Moses could see down he corridors of time into the NT truth. They understood grace yet to come. They had confidence in their relationship with God.

Even when when the vail was rent and grace was released and revealed. And message given through Paul...even then Peter took a long time in 'getting there.'

Was the grace gospel for today hidden or not?

No, it was NEVER hidden. There is only ONE Gospel!

We read:
But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. Genesis 6:8

Hidden in plain sight?

Sort of like the secret to better health - a healthy diet and exercise
The secret of saving money - don’t spend it

9 and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ
This is NOT a reference to the Gospel of Grace, but it is a reference to the Church -- all redeemed Jews and Gentiles in one Body without any ethnic distinctions -- a fellowship of believers.

For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. (1 Cor 12:12,13).

The Church -- as Paul tells us in his epistles -- was a mystery hidden in God until it was revealed to Paul. There were intimations of the salvation of Gentiles in the OT, but for Jews it may not have been clear as to how it would impact them. Therefore Peter had a very hard time accepting the fact that he was to go to a Gentiles household and preach the Gospel. And Paul had to reveal the doctrine of the Church to all the churches.

Those that mix law with grace will never believe that God has changed the way a person is saved. They will always say that the gospel has never changed.

You are right in that the gospel of grace was hinted at in the O.T. by using the following words;
Foreseeing-Beforehand-would justify

Galatians 3:6-8
6 just as Abraham "believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness."
7 Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham.
8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, "In you all the nations shall be blessed."
NKJV

Note the words “foreseeing“, “would justify“, “beforehand“. They clearly indicate that faith was not instituted at that time. It was to be a future event. But those who mix the law with grace will never see this.

Etymology of the name Paul

The name Paul (or rather Paulos) is part of a group very common Latin and Greek words, which show up all over the classics, and which all have to do with limitedness or minuteness. The Greek word παυρος (pauros) means feeble or little, and παυω (pauo — remotely related, says Spiros Zodhiates) means to stop, retrain, desist (Luke 5:4, Ephesians 1:16). Latin words from this pool are paulatim, meaning gradually or little by little; paulisper, meaning for a little while and paululus, meaning very little. The adjective paulus means little or small. The noun paulum means a little.

Paul meaning

The name Paulus means Little or Small.

Old habits die hard. I think we all have that issue in one way or other. It also seems that once a person has read a verse a certain way...it is very difficult to see it another way. We get conditioned into thinking a certain way...and are oblivious to any other possibility...even if the present understanding of a certain doctrine is doing nothing to help us.
