It is truly inspiring to begin to understand the love and the mercy of the Lord. By the cross the Lord Jesus has paid the full price for our sins. We are forgiven!
But what about the consequences of our sins? Christ deals with this in Matt 5:7 where he states that mercy will be given to those who show mercy. Paul deals extensively with this. In Rom 9: 23 he says that we should be instruments of the mercy of God.
James says in James 2:12-13 that mercy will be given to those who has shown mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgement.
This is known as the Dogma of Counteracting Mercy. We are forgiven through faith and by the blood of Christ. For the permanent and non-permanent consequences of our willful and unwillful sins, for which we cannot do atonement, we need to have a missionary heart. Do all that is possible to help alleviate the tragic consequences of the sins of others.
Based on the the New Covenant, the Lord is giving you the opportunity to be His hands and feet on earth. Now, not only are your sins are forgiven, but the consequences thereof are also taken care of! Remember that this the works of faith and not you trying to be good enough to obtain your salvation through works.
Next time the enemy attacks you on the sins of your past, remember that you are give grace to show mercy to as many as possible (2 Cor 4:1).
