I asked myself what are the Old and New Testaments?

Love, Walter and Debbie
Two Covenants.

The Old Covenant, The Ten Commandments Exodus 34:28, (ministry of death) was for those in the flesh. IOW for those with a sin nature.

The New Covenant is of the Spirit, (ministry of the Spirit) for those who are NOT in the flesh, but in the Spirit. We are NOT in the sin nature. It was crucified and our clean nature was resurrected to live in righteousness without a sin nature.

Romans 6:
5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin.

22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.

One word: Notice the Old Testament ends with the word "curse"
Notice the New Testament ends with the theme of "grace"

Everyone who is under the Law (i.e. for salvation) is under a curse as Paul stated that by the Law no man would be justified, but is the knowledge of sin. It's the righteous standard; not the means to gain righteousness by changing our core being which is fallen.

Under grace we are saved for good works that the Law illuminated, so it's now the Spirit of God who instills righteousness by faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

So what the flesh could not do (thus a curse) the Spirit enables us by giving us the nature of God (thus it's grace, not our doing).

Thus the Old Testament is the Covenant to Israel of the Law (marriage) which ended as a curse thus the husband had to die to annul the Covenant
The New Covenant is the starting point of grace freely given because of Jesus' work (Pentecost and onward) with the new, resurrected husband

But I know that you understand this well from other posts you have. It's good, however to "think aloud" to solidify a good question like this. We must be ready to give an answer.

The Old Testament lays down the foundation with stories from way back, like Adam and Eve, Noah's ark, and Moses parting the Red Sea. The New Testament, on the other hand, jumps to more recent times, introducing us to Jesus and his crew, spreading the good word and doing some awesome miracles.

So, the Old and New Testaments are like the OG and sequel of the Bible. Basically, the Old Testament tells the story of how everything started, with Adam and Eve, Moses, and all those biblical legends, while the New Testament focuses on Jesus and his friends spreading the good word of love and salvation. It's a pretty epic read, full of wisdom and belief, ya know?
