Eccl.12:13
You have conveniently left out Jesus Christ and his new covenant.
The Old testament was the forerunner to the new.
Much of the old is still applicable today but we are not under the law like the OT Israelite was.
Unless you are an observant Jew today.
It often sounds like you wish you were or have I misunderstood ?
Thanks
Martin.
One other point to remember is that one of the reasons the law was given was to show that we could not keep it perfectly. Thus we need a Savior.
So your saying that the Lord of creation gave the law to show us that we could not keep it.... in other words he was setting us up to fail. God is not an unjust God. The law has always been here. Rom 5:13
[sup]13[/sup](For until the
law sin was in the world: but
sin is not imputed when there is no
law.
1 John 3:4 [sup]4[/sup]Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law:
for sin is the transgression of the law.
Paul said until the
law(sacrificial law) sin ( transgression of the law) was already in the world. You can see two laws here!!! People keep attributing the sacrificial law with the royal law.
Lets look at Paul writing to the Galatians 3:21
[sup]21[/sup]Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: f
or if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
Now look at Rom 7:7-10
[sup]7[/sup]What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. [sup]8[/sup]But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
[sup]9[/sup]For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
[sup]10[/sup]And the
commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.
Do you see the difference in the two laws here? "f
or if there had been a law given which could have given life", and the
commandment, which was ordained to life.
Paul use the word "law" to cover "sacrificial law" and "royal law".....
Check out Peter's WARNING!!!!!! 2 Peter 3 : 15-16
[sup]15[/sup]And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother
Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
[sup]16[/sup]As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things;
in which are some things hard to be understood,
which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
Don't take my word for it. Pray to the Lord to see the truth of the word. Remember there is only one truth. This is salvation we're talking about here. Lets make sure we are doing all we can to get it!!!!
