From my X / Twitter “Following” feed this afternoon -

“The ultimate longevity hack?

Reading books.

+ Reduces stress by up to 68%
+ Reduces mortality by up to 20%
+ Reduces cognitive decline risk by up to 46%
+ Improves sleep quality by up to 42%
+ Improves memory performance by up to 32%”

The author doesn’t provide the source of the statistics he quotes but, if they are anywhere near accurate, these are appealing reasons for us to be reading books.

If you aren’t reading regularly, why not?

If you are, what are you currently reading? Share them with your readers and encourage them to read.

To your good health and quality of life!

Read ‘em if you got ‘em; get ‘em if you don’t.

Choosing an appropriate book to read is very important.

I now check if the books, particularly in the "Christian Book Shop," fall into the category of "Garbage in Garbage out" before I pay good money for it.

I am very choosey of the books that I pay good money for and only take books that will be uplifting, home.

All that I can suggest is that people chose wisely the books that they read.

Does that include Stephen King books?

I’ve never read a Stephen King book. It may for some but I doubt that it would for me.

Wondering out loud: would the stats be better if certain types of books were excluded?

A good book will affect your sleep QUANTITY - in a negative way. I've had a few page turners keep me up 'til 3 in the morning.
