God is rich in mercy and the Bible is full of passages about God's mercy.

When we sin against God, we often think that God will never forgive us. This thinking may stem from the view that God is vengeful, ready to strike down every sinner.

The good news for us is that God does not take revenge and wants to forgive us more, He is ready to support us when we fall.

Here is a selection of scriptures that highlight God's gracious mercy.

“If we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

“I will remember their iniquities and their wickedness no more” (Heb 10:17).

“Never be bitter, angry, or abusive, and put an end to all evil deeds. Instead, be kind to one another, be merciful, and forgive one another, just as God forgave you in Christ” (Eph 4:31-32).

“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you” (Mt 6:14).

“Therefore, repent and turn to God, that he may take away your sins. Thus will come the time of peace that the Lord will give you when he will send the Christ that he has for you, the Lord Jesus" (Acts 3:19-21).

“The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving because we have rebelled against Thee” (Daniel 9:9).

“What god can be compared to You, Who endures faults, Who spares evil for the rest of Your inheritance? He does not hold on to anger forever but loves kindness” (Mk 7:18).

“In the Son, through the shed blood of the Son we are redeemed, forgiven of our sins according to the riches of His grace. This grace has been given to us by God with all wisdom and understanding” (Eph 1:7-8).

Once we confess our sins and are cleansed of all unrighteous 1 John 1:9 we are clean. But it doesn't stop there. Jesus also gives us GRACE, the power of God through His Spirit that takes away the desire to sin called "the old man", so that we are free from sin. Roman 6:6-7.

God writes His laws on our heart so that instead of our old sin nature wanting to be in opposition to the law, now we naturally want to be righteous. That is where the Spirit starts. So as a baby Christian we don't have to have all knowledge; we just need to always live up to the knowledge that you have, Philippians 3:16, and keep studying the Word of God. Those laws are written on our hearts which is our conscience, so if your heart does not condemn you, you have assurance with God. 1 John 3:21.

A mature Christian that has grown in the Spirit for years can look back at God's mercy for having not condemned you for mistakes made unintentionally as a baby Christian. Just live up to the light you have. And practice forgiveness, as God has forgiven you. Matthew 6:14-15

Don't turn grace into a get out of jail free card for willful sins committed in rebellion. Many Christians are taught that obedience is works as if Jesus was a minister of sin. Don't embarrass the name of Jesus.

Galatians 2:17
17 “But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not!

Basically God is very forgiving, however as individuals His forgiveness is based on our qualities such as, are we forgiving? Are we truly sorry for our infringement? Do we work hard not to repeat the sin? Do our feet hurry from badness, or do we try to get as close as we can to the line, but not go over it? Many factors play in.

God is also a consuming fire.

“For our God is a consuming fire.” (Hebrews 12:29)

He is forgiving, but he’s not mocked either.

Do not abuse his forgiving Spirit.

What sin. Jesus died for all sins but 1. Repentance is therefore a commitment and although we are not perfect sin is not counted against us. The atonement made use the righteousness before God. So go and be perfected and dont look back

YOu have been taught well!

People hold to the vengeful God heresy because of human pride. They do nto believe the enormous thing that happened at Calvary! The forget that every sin was paid for and that we no longer have a sin debt before god when we trust in Christ!

Human pride and satanic deception keep people in chains when they are actually free!
