Abraham received a declaration of righteousness (justification) apart from works.

Titus 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; (baptism)

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Romans 6:4
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Like I said, we don't really die. We might die to something, but we are still alive.

wages of sin is death, spiritual death
In baptism we died with Christ spiritually

(I know physical death is the result of original sin)
