That is a western mindset that does NOT understand eastern writing styles. Westerners do not support anything, but their errors. CONTEXT is all that matters, and not just of the verse, but of the book. For instance, 1 John 2:4 explains what the actual lie is in1 John 1:6, 8 and 10. "He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." The apostles are inclusive of all their congregation, gnostics included that need to be taught the truth with warnings. Another verse in chapter one is verse 9 that is merely how to BECOME a born again Christian. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." How many times does it take? It is the same as Acts 2:38 where Peter says to Repent....and you shall have the gift of the Holy Spirit. How many times do you need to be born again? Arminians seem to use it multiple times every day like a 'get out of hell monopoly card.'
You are mistaken. It is not those who believe what Jesus said and does that are wrong. Everyone must confess and repent once to become born again of the Spirit. You can actually feel the change in your nature; at least, I did. Then you must do what Paul said, in Romans 6:11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 lest sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts." Those not reckoning and believing the truth that can set us free, will sin again because Proverbs 23:7 says as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.
How many denominations do you know that teach we will always sin because we are still in our body of flesh? All of those say what you said against "sinless perfection." I don't teach that because Jesus doesn't start and finish in one instant which would be sinless perfection. I teach the doctrine that the blood of Jesus will cleanse our sin nature clean of all willful sins of lawlessness and takes the desire away as the Author of our faith. And then, as long as we remain abiding in Him throughout the rest of our lives, He completes the righteous to pure holiness that will never stumble again, even though we are still in these dying bodies. These bodies may bring us to the door of a temptation, but the power of the Spirit can turn us away BEFORE we even knock.
Our soul and spirit must be born again and created to not commit ANY willful lawless sins unto death. The body doesn't have anything to do with sin. It is like a floppy puppet, and only moves when the puppet masters, the soul and spirit, empowers it.
Jesus even said that John the Baptist was the greatest prophet, but he who is the least in the Kingdom of God is higher than him. Don't you know why? Answer that and you will know the answer to your question about coveting Adam's relationship.
Is man perfect? No. Where you got that idea I haven't a clue.
1 John 3 is on righteousness, not holiness. Jesus makes us sinless of all desire to commit sins unto death which is lawlessness, against God's commands.
2 Peter 1:2-11 shows all you need to know about becoming holy like Jesus and "never stumble" again vs. 10. Note you are already sinless of sins unto death. Immature fruit of the Spirit is matured by Jesus as the Finisher of our second faith, Romans 1:16-17 taking care of sin not unto death.
