Oh, a southern favorite, is it? Do you also drawl? Don't hear much of that... or at least not so pronounced in Oklahoma!
That brings back the memories of my mother making the mix, usually vanilla. Then my brother and I would take turns on the crank until it started to thicken. It was people power in those days and when it started to thicken, it took the two of us little boys to hold the churn in place and turn the crank. It was always worth it. Nowadays we use an electric one and often add some fresh fruit at the opportune time for other flavors. Peach is a good one!
