[John 1:29 KJV] 29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

This is the verse that we will further examine. I think it is a significant verse, and it eluded me. Others say this verse proves John the Baptist knew the gospel. John knew all would be justified by the death and resurrection of Christ.

Let us examine the surrounding verses.

First look at this verse to examine what is meant by the world...........[John 1:10 KJV] 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not..........Jesus came into the world of his creation, but the world knew him not............Jesus came specifically to his own, which was Israel, but they didn't receive him.............[John 1:11 KJV] 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

John was baptizing with water...........[John 1:26 KJV] 26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;.............John the Baptist would make him known to Israel.............[John 1:31 KJV] 31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

John exhorted Israel to confess their sins and be water baptized for remission of sins..........[Mark 1:4 KJV] 4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
[Luke 3:3 KJV] 3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;............Israel had to be water baptized to have their sins forgiven.

[Matthew 3:13-14 KJV] 13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?...........John knew in saying that Jesus was the lamb of God, that Jesus was sinless and had no need to be water baptized for remission of sin..............[Exodus 12:5 KJV] 5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take [it] out from the sheep, or from the goats:............Jesus was baptized to be numbered with the sinners of Israel, to take away, and bear their sin. His water baptism was to take away the sin of the nation Israel...........[Isiah 53:12 KJV] 12 Therefore will I divide him [a portion] with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

On a final note, if as some say, John knew Jesus would die to forgive sin for all, then why did he not proclaim it. Why would he continue to command Israel to be water baptized to receive remission of sins?

John exhorted Israel to confess their sins and be water baptized for remission of sins...
water baptism is NOT for the remission of sins Grace does that along with justification along with the blood w/o the shedding of Blood there is no remission of sins

[Mar 1:4 KJV] 4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
[Act 2:38 KJV] 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Both John and Peter said water baptism remitted sins. Of course we know having all the word of God that it was accepted only by the blood of Christ, just as were animal sacrifices

But the water baptism itself did not remit the sins .. to many out there depends on water baptism salvation.. baptism Follows after were saved john 1:29 --justified by grace faith and the blood romans 5 or chapter 6 dont have time look

He was proclaiming that Jesus Christ is the Passover Lamb, that the Passover lamb pointed to when the children of Israel were delivered from Egypt.

Scripture says water baptism remitted Israel's sins, that is why people believe it is for forgiveness. They dont rightly divide scripture to know that was commanded for believing Israel only, not us in this dispensation of grace

Where does Paul say we have to be water baptized after salvation?

Water baptism was commanded believing Israel. Our apostle is Paul and Paul never says to be baptized for any reason. We are baptized into Christ by the Spirit.

lol hold on there this is your doctrine you show me where it says we dont need to be baptized..certainly water baptism does not save us .but Jesus in the great commission said
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

this is the most important baptism
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

back to the issue show me scripture to back up what your saying

You cant prove a negative by saying we have to be water baptized because nowhere does it say don't

Paul was glad he didnt baptize many...........[1Co 1:14 KJV] 14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;......if it was meant to done why didnt he do it for all or tell us to do it
He also said he wasnt sent to baptize..................[1Co 1:17 KJV] 17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

John was sent to baptize.........................[Jhn 1:33 KJV] 33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost...........John wasnt sent to us to be baptized, he was sent to Israel

It's the only baptism for us.................[Eph 4:5 KJV] 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,.......water baptism would make it two

neither does yours say not to...so its a matter of interpretation
