I really don't see where in the bible we are told that a person who has believed on the Lord Jesus Christ will burn in hell because their baptism was deficient. Besides, the command of Jesus was not to baptize in His name, but in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit:Did you get baptized in Jesus' Name as Jesus / Peter COMMANDED? I don't want you to burn in Hell for being baptized wrong!
I agree David, but he / she insisted we must be baptized to be saved.I really don't see where in the bible we are told that a person who has believed on the Lord Jesus Christ will burn in hell because their baptism was deficient. Besides, the command of Jesus was not to baptize in His name, but in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit:
(Mat 28:19) Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Granted, Peter says in Acts 2:38, "in the name of Jesus Christ," but as commentator John Gill wrote on that verse: "in the name of Jesus Christ; not to the exclusion of the Father, and of the Spirit, in whose name also this ordinance is to be administered, Mat_28:19 but the name of Jesus Christ is particularly mentioned, because of these Jews, who had before rejected and denied him as the Messiah; but now, upon their repentance and faith, they are to be baptized in his name, by his authority, according to his command; professing their faith in him, devoting themselves to him, and calling on his name."
I find it worth noting that Jesus said:
(Mar 16:16) He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
He didn't say, "He who is not baptized will be condemned," or "He who is baptized in the wrong way will be condemned."
So sorry. I must have misunderstood your post. (I thought it was unusual for you and me to disagree.)I agree David, but he / she insisted we must be baptized to be saved.
I absolutely agree with water baptism! But not mandatory for salvation. That doesn't make any sense at all!So sorry. I must have misunderstood your post. (I thought it was unusual for you and me to disagree.)
I agree.I absolutely agree with water baptism! But not mandatory for salvation. That doesn't make any sense at all!
Many CANNOT be baptized. To deny them salvation is Satanic!I agree.
he is not performing a baptism!Huh?
You're playing word games!
Acts 2:38
38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins;
Guess Who taught Peter personally. His Name is Jesus!
And NOBODY was baptized Father, Son and Holy Spirit!
(SINGULAR not NAMES} And that's what Peter commanded, "in the Name of Jesus Christ"!
You better stop preaching water baptism for salvation. You ain't baptized right!
Are people who are baptized in Jesus' Name saved?
It is a COMMANDMENT of God that you are ignoring.he is not performing a baptism!
The thief on the cross beside Jesus is an example of this. Many CANNOT be baptized. To deny them salvation is Satanic!
Absolutely! The thief on the cross beside Jesus is an example of this.
why does it need to be in scripture?Running water? Where do we read that in the bible as a requirement for baptism? Granted, many were baptized in rivers, which were "running water", but as far as I am aware, we are not told anywhere in the bible that the water used to baptise somebody had to be running water.
My thought exactly!!!Running water? Where do we read that in the bible as a requirement for baptism? Granted, many were baptized in rivers, which were "running water", but as far as I am aware, we are not told anywhere in the bible that the water used to baptise somebody had to be running water.
