Have you ever wondered what Jesus was like as a child? I have.

There are books and gospels that didn't make it into the bible. One of them is called the "infancy gospel of Thomas" which tells stories of Jesus from the ages of 5 to 12.

The child Jesus brings clay birds to life, heals people, brings people back from the dead and speaks wise words well beyond his years.

It also shows a naughty Jesus who disobeys his parents and teachers, curses people, blinds people and strikes down people.

This is probably why the book didn't make it into the bible as they didn't want Jesus to be put in a bad light.

The final chapter is in Luke's gospel, it is of 12yo Jesus teaching the elders in the Jerusalem church.

The book also mentions Joesph a lot which is great because he barley gets mentioned in the biblical gospels

The book is short and has 19 chapters.
Here is a reading of it which lasts 23 minutes. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did

every story about Jesus's youth is false. Luke only included one story of young Jesus in the Temple to show He was human and Savior at the same time while young and smarter than the Priests.

Ye that doesn't mean it's all false.
I think John was written 80 or 90 after the death of Christ
Yes, but the gospel of Thomas was written anywhere between 100ad and 280ad. Origen called it heresy and it was Gnostic in the Syrian texts. So it was not and still not considered reliable, plus it doesn't a line with the synoptic gospels which do a line with each other. However, it is a good read, and just maybe someone put together a collection of stories passed down to them and put Thomas on it. But it still considered heresy.

There is nothing in that gospel that makes it gnostic. It's just an account of Jesus's childhood. Nothing more

If we take Luke's account to be true than Thomas's account, written in the 2nd century AD, of 12yo Jesus teaching in the temple is also true.

So considering that story is true than there is a high probability that at least some of the other stories are true in the infancy gospel of Thomas, in my opinion. They probably didn't include it in the bible because they didn't want to show a naughty child Jesus

Listened to 1:28 minutes and had to turn it off. Young Jesus may have shown his powers to his parents, but it would not be in God's plan to show them off among the people prior to his time. Word would get out, attention would be drawn to him - especially the king's. Remember Jesus first Miracle was at the wedding and his mother prodded him to do it because she knew he could. Didn't Jesus say it was not his time/ hour. So he he turned the water into wine discreetly, not wanting anyone to know and asked that they would not tell anyone - likely as to not hasten his mission. His 3.5 years was planned out perfectly to the days of his death and resurrection.
That said, he would not have done miracles in public prior to that, maybe only for his parents, but likely not even among his siblings.
Later on, during his mission and visit to his home town, people recognized him as the son of the carpenter- nothing special about him ( Matt. 14:54-58 " Is this not the carpenter's son?") They did not say, Oh yeah, that's Jesus, who performed miracles as a child ... the Messiah ... everyone knows him. No, they tried to stone him, thinking he was blaspheming, stating the Isaiah prophecyHe read referred to him.

It sometimes does. Every child is naughty at some stage. That's probably why this book wasn't included in the bible, they didn't want to show the child Jesus being naughty

If this is true, there is one thing that I find rather hard to understand. The person who accidentally ran into Jesus and bumped into him, was it because he didn't say sorry that he was cursed?
So in this world, there are many people who don't care so much. In such situations, they would say: "Next time, watch where you're walking."
Hard to believe that is true.

I would stay far away from anything that is not Biblical Canon. That's the easiest way to be deceived.

Accounts of Jesus' youth is hidden from the bible for a reason. Jesus was not ready to face the world until he became an adult.

the very 1st thing to understand is that Jesus himself lived at a time when Rome was beginning to tighten the grip of Italy's Canaanite hand upon the Hebrew people,....... this was the " death grip " of Rome

The gospels were never written to be a detailed life-story about anyone who was a Hebrew, ..... even just sharing and even possessing knowledge of details about individual persons at this time could get you killed and endanger everyone around you.

From the very moment Jesus was born his mother and father were running for their lives to hide her Child as Rome intended to abort and murder
little baby Yahashua

Remember.... the Governor of Judea and Jerusalem - "
Herod the Great " governed his kingdom from his royal capital and administrative center in Jerusalem. Herod the Great was partially Arabian / Canaanite, on his mother's side: his mother, Cypros, was a Nabatean Arab / Canaanite princess from Petra, Herod's father a Idumean - a very distant branch of the Edomites

both ancient enemies of the Hebrew people and they were working for Italy's Canaanite hand

King Herod the Great ordered the execution of all male infants in and around the city of Bethlehem. .... known as the "Massacre of the Innocents"—targeted boys two-years old and younger to eliminate the prophesied "King of the Jews.

sharing information, facts, details, - personal life stories - written accounts of ones personal life -

spreading information about the life of someone's family who was being literally hunted to death with fears and possibilities of rape of their women and torture of their males .... this was not something that a people did living as Hebrew's at this time.

So............. there is not going to be much information in the Bible about early personal childhood experiences, regarding locations, events, happenings, people and places - should this oral or written information become common knowledge in "
real time " as the events are literally happening, the live recording is not going to be spread and known to anyone........... the safest method is to live as discrete, hidden, secretive and concealed and covert as you possible can.......... this could be a matter of life and death

with the exploitation and heavy taxation imposed upon the Hebrew people, the grip of Italy's Canaanite hand was tightening into a grip of death that suffocated a society from ability to share stories, recollect events and have safe method to share information about personal life stories without a constant threat of death and torture.

it was safer to not share information with the public

Jesus lived in a family with brothers and sisters who at first did not truly understand his purpose for being born, even his own family did not believe in him as a prophet nor a savior until after he began his 3 year ministry .

However, when we look at the danger, the threat and the horrible lives that the Hebrew people had to endure under Roman invasion we can understand why the life stories and events surrounding Jesus are very limited and concealed in his younger years and only the important events that show forth the glory of God are mentioned as God intended in his word.

a personal interjection of the authors about the early life of anyone in Israel would not be something they knew about as common knowledge to be openly shared, as something that was safe to provide - - -everything was tight, secret, restricted, suffocating and was not to be shared or open

-
as they wrote what the Spirit Of Holy called them to write, keeping the chain of personal information orbiting around the glorification of God.

@Seeding Loving welcome to the forum.

What I would be mindful of is distinguishing between what Scripture explicitly tells us and what we may infer from the historical circumstances. The Bible itself does not say that details of Jesus' childhood were withheld because of fear or secrecy, although that is one possible explanation. Ultimately, God chose to preserve for us what was necessary for His purposes.

What we do know is that Jesus "grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man" (Luke 2:52), and that the events recorded in Scripture are sufficient to point us to Him as the Son of God and our Savior.
It is always helpful to consider the historical context while also allowing Scripture itself to remain our primary guide.

I do take some of legends around Jesus' youth seriously after being a member of the Coptic Orthodox Church congregation for over eight years. And I will stand by the Coptic witness of Faith, that is ancient and withstood the worst persecution from Rome, the Byzantines and Islam and Nasir. I also will say for nay sayers that there are "Biblically based reasons" to believe so such as the actual contextual nature of the Gospels (Who they explicitly written to), John 21:25,
And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which, if they should be written everyone, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen., as well as Biblical Types and Shadows and other OT allusions, and probably many other reasons like what the Bible says about the nature of the church and being a witness.

You are free to believe that if you wish, as far as Freedom of Religion goes, but it is against official Christian dogma. Jesus was without sin, he would not be able to be the savior of mankind if that was otherwise. Basically his true human nature was without sin, this is the reason why you have doctrines like Original Sin in Western Christendom besides all the Nicene Creed beliefs of being True God, True Man etc.
