Because the spirit from which you read it will never see God.
Wrong answer. It's because you don't like what Jesus said!:

"Hell Fire, "the EVERLASTING Fire", "the Furnace of Fire", "the Lake of Fire", "tormented day and night FOREVER"

@Lambano,

I can't seem to message you directly; but I have curiosity as to how my post above, the one that highlights The Name, amuses you such that you react with laughter.
Sorry. Trying to use the emoticons on a cell-phone is tricky. It's supposed to be a "Wow". I changed it using my PC.

Oh, you believe in Hell for Bible believers!
12 For all who have sinned without the Bible will also perish without the Bible, and all who have sinned under the Bible will be judged by the Bible. (Romans 2:12)

I wonder how many readers picked up on the significance of that verse?

The Greek word here translated "Bible" and vastly more often said as "Law" is written in this verse in various grammatical forms, but the root Greek word sounds like "nAH-moh."

I heartily encourage you to seek a deeper understanding than the one you [whoever quoted that translation initially] presently express.

The interpretation quoted does not do the intent of the author justice.

Same thing!

There you go!

"Death" NEVER means 'cease to exist' in the Bible!

“Death” in The Spiritual context …
IS separation FROM God.

“Damnation” (for ManKIND) in The Spiritual context …
IS;
* Permanent “MORTAL” (Bodily) Death.
It’s Life (blood) ceases to flow.
IS;
* God permanently DEPARTING “HIS” Life (Gods Breath) from a mans soul.
IS;
* God WITHHOLDING His “SEED”, From a man, causing the mans natural spirit, to Die Once and Permanently with the mans Mortal bodily Death.

Glory to God,
Creator and Maker…
Maker of the Wholly, holy, Whole…
With Him.
And
Maker of the Wholly, Whole, Damned…
Without Him.

My thinking is this: While Romans 1:17-31 seems to be addressed to the Gentile Christians in Rome, chapter 2 is addressed to the Jewish-Christians. (The greetings in chapter 16 include both.) I've read enough writings by Jewish authors to understand that "The Law" (Torah) is often used as a metonym for the Law, the Prophets, and the Writings, i.e. the Hebrew Bible. So, especially in the context of verses 1-13, Paul is clearly stating to his Jewish-Christian audience that possession of God's word (i.e., the Bible) implies a greater responsibility before God in the judgment.

I also notice the fate of sinning Gentiles in this verse is ἀπόλλυμι, which means "to perish, to die" (see John 3:16) or "to be destroyed". Now, my conversation partner in this thread has stated elsewhere that death doesn't mean to stop living (and thus resurrection is meaningless). Fine; we disagree. I still think the Resurrection is real. But what I see here is different levels of responsibility and different fates for those who have the Bible versus those who do not. I am also taking into account the earlier discussion about Jesus's warnings to His fellow countrymen. The warnings make no sense and are thus useless to those who do not share the same world-view about God, the afterlife, and the Judgment to come.

Where it occurs, not important.

That Eternal Separation is a possibility, is important.

While ManKinds confessions and Heartful beliefs occur while the man IS Alive…

No human man “RECEIVES” the Lord Gods Gift of Salvation…
“UNTIL AFTER” the body IS ( IN Gods books, records, accounting, Evidence ) Recorded as Having Died.

1 Cor 15:
[36] Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:

(And why…. OSAS, is factual…death First, then the Gift of Salvation).

Right. Death doesn't mean "to cease living". Words don't mean what they mean, and the Bible never says what it means or means what it says.

I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. (Philippians 3:10-11)

Sorry, Paul. I didn't realize Christ's resurrection was meaningless.

Right. Death doesn't mean "to cease living".
Exactly! The rich man died but was very much alive in Hell Fire crying and begging for mercy.

Luke 16:22-28 The rich man died and was buried. 23 And being in torments in Hell, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.'

The same Exact passage Can have Two meanings of understanding…
* Carnal Understanding, Deduced by logic…(and utterly irrelevant)
* Spiritual Understanding, Given a man, by, through, of the Lord God, to the man.

Not the man, ( ie body) was alive.
Yes the mans Soul was Alive.

As God IS ONE God United…
Father, Sin, Holy Spirit, each having specific roles…

So Also IS ONE Man ONE United…
Body, Soul, Spirit, each having specific roles…

A mans Body is Required to Die…
A mans Soul, Spirit has no such broad requirement.

Dead people were still alive in the NT!

1 Timothy 5:6
6 But she who lives in pleasure is dead while she lives.

Those burning in Hell like the rich man will wish they don't exist!

Yes… that Applies to they Whom and How Christ Jesus Saves. They Made “IN Christ”… and “Christ (the power of God, the Seed of God) IN that man.

1Thes 4:
[15] For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
[16] For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
[17] Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

And… IF you Do Not confess with your Mouth??
But Yet believe IN your Heart?
“God shall bring that one With Him.

1Thes. 4:
[14] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

Yes mortally alive, Spiritually Dead.

Those burning in Hell like the rich man will wish they don't exist!

Those IN Hell are “departed Living souls”…
“THEY” are not “burning”…

A living soul (in or out of the body) hears, sees, tastes, smells, feels all the same as the Flesh body.

Departed unsaved souls IN Hell…
See fire, feel, smell, taste, hear the Unpleasantries of intense heat, putrid smell of sulfur and death, the thirst without cool water to satisfy, screams of other souls suffering…
Complete absence of beauty, pleasant smells, comfort, rest… AGONY.
