we may be forgiven, but it does not mean that we do not suffer the consequences of our actions.
Take David when he fell into temptation to fornicate with Bath-sheba making her a fornicator and adulterer and set up her husband Uriah to be killed to cover up his sin.
He obviously was in unbelief at this time for he was not aware He could not hide it from God and being a Just God the LORD did forgive David for what he had done once he repented of his sin against God but not before first suffering the consequences of his actions, which was the death of his son conceived through his sin. 2 Samuel 11-12
God may show some mercy when we suffer afflictions due to our bad choices that cause us to sin and we now no longer need priests who sacrifice once a year to pay for our sins for Christ paid our sin debt once and for all so that we are not destroyed at the end of the age as we should be... but it NEVER takes away our consequences for our actions.. they are for our learning. God is the same yesterday, today and forever and He never changes! His Word is His Word and He is not a man that He should lie and His judgments are JUST for we are under the covenant of reaping exactly what we have sown. To do unto others exactly as we would want them to do to us because that is what we shall receive.
So the sooner we learn to overcome the lusts of our flesh that led us to sin, the smoother our path becomes in life. For the Lord does not reward good for evil, He can forgive it so that we are not destroyed completely, but we will still suffer the torment of the hellish way we have chosen with our free will.
In the story of David and Bath Sheba you will notice that David was exposed before he repented and I do believe that IF we do fall into temptation and repent BEFORE being exposed there is a possibility of getting a lighter sentence for our actions.. but we should not willfully sin with this false hope for God is not mocked and He knows all the intensions of the heart and He is NO FOOL.
Deut 30:19-31:1
19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

The voice of God is His Word and Jesus IS the Word of life the very Seed of God
1 John 1:1-2
1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2(For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us
