Where does the Bible say we can read the Bible for ourselves and choose our own doctrines or faith based on private judgement?

eph 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism!

divine revelation has to be taught by Christ thru His apostles! Matt 28:19

It doesn't say we can judge for ourselves, but nether am I willing to place complete trust in fallable man. Case and point, this site has many Christians from many denominations with differing doctrines.

There is a witness to the Truth in the Holy Spirit. If the Holy Spirit is in us, and we listen to his prompting, I am certain we at a minimum will be taught what we really need from him in a timely manner. Then eventually he will teach us all truth as promised.

And as we exercise patience, we can put into practice what we know, first is loving one-another.

I do not think private judgement exists in a spiritual sense. What we call bias is always present. It taints our every interpretation of scripture. There is a bias that is good and correct, and it is that Christ died on the cross for our sins. Then he rose again on the third day.

1 Jn 1:3
That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

you don’t trust John and what He declared?

All scripture is God breathed, so I trust that message. Because it came from God, and he is faithful.

Then trust the apostle cis they are also God breathed Jn 20:22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

All true Christians receive the Holy Spirit as well, yet not all of them are intended to teach. Nether can they prophecy on their own.

The apostles are now with the Lord and have been for about 2000 years, they can not teach us as they did then.
