Guess we don't follow the ten commandments then-right?
1Co 2:1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.It's no popularity contest, I'll grant you.
You should NOT follow the Ten Commandments! None of them!
1Co 2:1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
1Co 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
Shalom, I'm tired.
J.
Yeah-hormone of darkness. You gotta stop stayin' up to late to get your pineal melatonin, Bro.
9 of them are found in the New Covenant... and those are still applicable.
The sabbath has been upgraded but the SDAs have not discovered that yet so they still be clinging to the old covenant
Okay, so I was sort of hoping for a bit more in the way of response. :/Okay
.
The idea that Sunday observance will be the mark of the beast is not found in Scripture. This idea came from Ellen White
Very true. In a deeper level it is a divisive tool, Law vs. Grace, being justified by faith.Shabbat is interesting, because God gave this before "Moses Law" came around.
Just like the TITHE.
Both pre-existed before Moses, or the Law and Commandments.
SHABBAT.....Its a day of rest, that was created for Man.
Now, Cults, and Heretics, teach that Man is made for the Shabbat, as if mankind is to obey a day of the week, as if its a LAW.
Its not.
Shabbat was MADE for Man.............not man for Shabbat.
Jesus would heal and teach on Shabbat, to show the religious pride filled heretics that HE is the Lord of Shabbat, and Shabbat is not the Lord of Him.
Now, reader, if you are born again, and not just water baptized and religious, then you are IN CHRIST, and "ONE with God", and they are not bound by Shabbat, and neither are you.
Listen.. "there is now NO CONDEMNATION to those who are in Christ"... = ALL the BORN AGAIN.
So, before some of you "flame on" and "freak out" because you are so infected with this SUNDAY or SATURDAY concept... let me just say that its fine if you want to have a day of rest.
If you feel that this is Sunday, then so be it.
If you feel this is Saturday, then good for you.
God is actually only interested in YOU... He's not interested in some day of the week, event.
"you are NOT under the Law, but UNDER GRACE"..., so, dont turn a day of week into a LAW when "Shabbat" was given before Moses Law existed.
See it?
Just realize that anything you do for God, is good, except for trying to force others to do what you feel YOU have to do.
See, CHRISTianity, is not a religion.. Its not rules and regulation, and man made traditions.
CHRISTianity, = IS YOU and JESUS and GOD... all become ONE,...... and so, this is so very personal, and so very much a "one on one" eternal relationship.
And all the other stuff, other then Paul's doctrine, and being sure you live a life that LOVES others by deeds and not just words, as you give yourself to God... all that other stuff... is just "stuff".
It just "religious"..
Its "forum arguments"forum arguments... that are meaningless and to be avoided.
Very true. In a deeper level it is a divisive tool, Law vs. Grace, being justified by faith.
Paul corrected the Judaizers for insisting that Christians be circumcised too. The Hebrew Christians struggled with that and still some feel their calling and mission is to get everyone on board with keeping the Sabbath.
Well to everyone who has been chided by these folks, this is for you:
Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. Col. 2:16
So that the context is not missed, let's back up a few verses in Col. 2:
11 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
Well to be fair, Mr. Confusion runs alongside us, he's a common annoying participant in the race. We know in part and see dimly. It is clearer to some that we are justified by faith alone. It is also clear that once we are saved, we have a responsibility to be obedient to His commandments - not the Mosaic Law, but the Law of Love - the two commandmentents ( which all the Law falls under). So with works being part of the New Creature Program , people cling to works (as if they were their own - apart from God), thinking their faith is dead if they don't perform. And others focus on Christ alone and sidestep love for one another. Choices are presented to us: Infant baptism or not, to keep the Sabbath or not, are spiritual gifts for today or did they cease, to give 10% or to give according to what's in your heart without pressure of obligation, to drink or not, To be or not to be religious ... needless to say, there he is, Mr. Confusion. But we can't just punch him in the face, because he is me ... well, sometimes. But I'm usually right! Lol.The Born again, are in a body down here, that is going to be replaced, .. BECAUSE... the born again exist as "One with God" who is "A Spirit".
And there is no "law of moses" found in this Eternal Life, situation.
The born again, are "IN CHRIST", and Christ is in Heaven., and that is why our NT says that the born again are "seated in Heavenly places", "IN Christ" as Christ is "seated at the right hand of God", and so are all the born again.
What isn't found there?
1.) Moses Law
2.) Commandments
This is why our NT teaches us, that..
"As JESUS IS...... so are the born again..... IN = this world".
'
And that understanding, is the revelation that all born again believers need to find as their understanding of who they have become as a "new Creation, in Christ".
This is the 'mind" that Paul talks about that all believers are to come to understand and exist within as their "renewed mind".
And to come into this revelation, is to "work out your Salvation"..
Forums like this one are filled with heretics and fake believers who will try to keep you "under the law" and away from any real understanding of what it means to have become "THE Righteousness of God...In Christ".
Few make it out of that deceived situation.
Most are stuck in Calvinism, or some other cult theology that has them trying to confess sin to keep from going to hell, or some other nonsense, that is related to them being stuck here... := Hebrews 6:1
Understanding the identification truths are the meat of the gospel, not the milk. They are of critical importance but they are not salvific in nature, meaning that one is not required to believe them in order to get saved. Where they make all the difference is when we stand before Christ and receive rewards for those works we have performed in the flesh. That work performed through faith in Christ in love will survive the work done based on the law (or any other foundation) won't, but the believer himself will be preserved even if all his works are burned up.The Born again, are in a body down here, that is going to be replaced, .. That is your opinion and not fact. One verse woulod be enough. If the Sabbath was abolished, there would be many verses and much text to show it, yet there is none. The apostles would have had many discussions and the councils at Jerusalem would have written at least one with a determination of it being abolished and yet there is nothing. Paul exhorts in Corinthians that Circumcision is nothing in comparison to the Ten Commandments.
The Sabbath has already been fulfilled by Jesus. To obey and honor the SabbathIf the Sabbath was abolished, there would be many verses and much text to show it, yet there is none
You assume much, but the Bible ďoesnt say that..Where or when was the Sabbath abolished? I'll give you the passages. Where do you find the command to keep the Sabbath? It is in the Old Covenant, specifically in the Ten Commandments. What happened to those Ten Commandments at the first Advent?
"In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away." (Heb 8:13 KJV)
what was in the Old Covenant that was to vanish away?
"And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments." (Exod 34:28 KJV)
There is another specific passage on this:
"But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious." (2Cor 3:7-11 KJV)
True believers in Christ who have been born from above, live in the New Covenant, not the Old Covenant. The early church was largely made up of Jews and to evangelize, Paul met with Jews and others on the Sabbath. The church met on the first day of the week, the "Lord's Day", to honor the resurrection of Jesus Christ. As honoring the Lord's Supper, they honored the Lord's Day. Gradually as more Gentiles were brought into the church, who were NEVER under the Old Covenant, meeting on the Sabbath by the Jews faded away. I disagree with my Reformed brethren that the First Day of the Week is a "Sabbath".
So who are the Lawless..Randy, I think we agree on this matter. I embrace the 1646 First London Confession of Faith as best representing my understanding of Scripture. There is an Appendix to that Confession written by Benjamin Cox and on law it reads:
"IX
Though we that believe in Christ, be not under the law, but under grace, Rom.6:14; yet we know that we are not lawless, or left to live without a rule; “not without law to God, but under law to Christ,” 1 Cor.9:21. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is a law, or commanding rule unto us; whereby, and in obedience whereunto, we are taught to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world, Titus 2:11,12; the directions of Christ in His evangelical word guiding us unto, and in this sober, righteous, and godly walking, 1 Tim.1:10,11.
X
Though we be not now sent to the law as it was in the hand of Moses, to be commanded thereby, yet Christ in His Gospel teacheth and commandeth us to walk in the same way of righteousness and holiness that God by Moses did command the Israelites to walk in, all the commandments of the Second Table being still delivered unto us by Christ, and all the commandments of the First Table also (as touching the life and spirit of them) in this epitome or brief sum, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, etc.,” Matt.22:37,38,39,40; Rom.13:8,9,10."
I see the ever present, moral law of God in the book of Genesis before Moses existed, and I see it in the New Covenant. This "moral law" I believe is largely what is spoken of that the Gentiles had instinctively, written on the heart -
"When Gentiles, who do not possess the law, do instinctively what the law requires, these, though not having the law, are a law to themselves. They show that what the law requires is written on their hearts, to which their own conscience also bears witness; and their conflicting thoughts will accuse or perhaps excuse them on the day when, according to my gospel, God, through Jesus Christ, will judge the secret thoughts of all." (Rom 2:14-16 NRSV)
You assume much, but the Bible ďoesnt say that..
