"Who Dwells In Your Heart?"
By Zach Wood
Psalm 27:4
One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
Son of God,
Shaper of the stars
You alone
The dweller of my heart
This past Sunday on our praise team, we had the privilege to share this song of worship with the congregation called "Son of God" by Starfield. As we performed this piece of music, I sang these words and they sank deep into my heart and soul. I just sat there behind the drums and prayed, "Lord, I really want you to dwell in my heart. You and You alone."
Now, that prayer is much easier prayed than practiced, but the intention and heart is still in how I felt. My true desire is to dwell in the house of the Lord each day and all day. Is that your desire? Who dwells in your heart today? Is it God or is it the desire of the things of this world?
I am sure most of us would say that our desire is for The Almighty God to dwell in us. However, it is daily a challenge for each of us to practice this. We must spend the time each day in constant communion with our Lord and Savior. It seems so easy to go to church and sings the words to songs. Sometimes, we get so used to the words that we forget the true meaning of what we are even singing to God. The just become empty words coming from our mouths. If our hearts are not truly desiring Him, He knows.
Do we truly seek to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord? Do we truly desire to seek Him and follow Him? Who truly dwells in our hearts? Jesus Christ or Satan? If we are allowing the desires of this world to fill our hearts and minds, then we are following Satan and getting further away from Christ. It is that simple.
It is my prayer that each of us would make this song by Starfield a true prayer from our heart. Is He truly the dweller of our heart?
