People love quoting their IQ like it’s a personality.
“I have a high IQ.”
Okay…
but what are you doing with it?
Because IQ is just a number that says,
“Under test conditions, you were good at this kind of problem.”
That’s it.
It doesn’t measure wisdom.
It doesn’t measure judgment.
It doesn’t stop you arguing with strangers at 2 a.m.
An IQ score is like owning a fast car.
It tells me what you could do.
Not what you’re actually doing in traffic.
I’ve met people with high IQs who can’t run a dishwasher.
And people with average IQs who somehow keep families, jobs, and sanity alive.
And just to be clear —
having a high IQ isn’t the problem.
Needing everyone to know it is.
So when someone tells me their IQ, all I hear is:
“I tested well once, please be impressed.”
That’s not intelligence.
That’s ego flexing.
“I have a high IQ.”
