Overview

I ordered this off Amazon after researching if their were any " bibles" in print before the official King James Bible.
It came today.
The gospel of Christ is according to what was revealed to Paul during his 14 yrs after his conversion on the road to Damascus to persecute the " Christians."

It was used in 144 A. D. by the early church of the Gentiles. It is based only only on the belief of sola scripture .

I'm not sure if this is where the Paulines come into play.
It is known today as the Marcionite Christian church.
Link provided above.

Input or DISCUSSION is welcomed but if you're an argument waiting to happen plz don't peply here!

Admin Plz lock and close this thread . I can see where it will go badly.
Thank you.

I am familiar with Marcion of Sinope. I did not know that Marcionite churches were still in existence.

Marcion of Sinope - Wikipedia

Marcion of Sinope (c. 85 – c. 160) was an early Christian theologian, in early Christianity. Marcion preached that God had sent Jesus Christ who was an entirely new, alien god, distinct from the vengeful God of Israel who had created the world. He considered himself a follower of Paul the Apostle, whom he believed to have been the only true apostle of Jesus Christ, a doctrine called Marcionism. Marcion published the earliest extant fixed collection of New Testament books. Early Church Fathers such as Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, and Tertullian denounced Marcion as a heretic, and he was excommunicated by the church of Rome around 144. He published the first known canon of Christian sacred scriptures, which contained ten Pauline epistles (the Pastoral epistles were not included) and the Gospel of Marcion which is a shorter version of the Gospel of Luke. This made him a catalyst in the process of the development of the New Testament canon by forcing the proto-orthodox Church to respond to his canon. (Wikipedia)

I ain't going for this "the God who sent Jesus Christ is distinct from the vengeful God of Israel" bit. Though it does remind me of a front-porch conversation I had with one of my Catholic neighbors who speculated that the God of the Old Testament mellowed out a bit after He had a kid. ;)

(@L3astAm0ngManyB13ss3d, I hope this counts as "input and discussion", but I'll revise it if you feel it's too argumentative.)

Lol.
Thank you @Lambano
I have perused some of these text and it is word for word so far as the KJ which I love.
At this point I see it as incomplete even to what I stand by of the KJB.

Yes apparently it is still thriving in a somewhat smaller capacity of a " church " according to the link overview I found.

I was intrigued by it's being an earlier print than King James. I intend to do a side by side comparison , the book has a lot of room on the pages to write my own thoughts. 10 bucks worth;)

I so hunger for the TRUTH and only the TRUTH from God's word. I DO NOT like any of the so called new translations, they lack the Spirit in the word to least. ( I should have been born to be at the Master's feet only.)

I meant no bullying when I stated not to argue but ya know how some _____________'s are.

Myself I'm ready to take my final flight out of this wearisome and worrisome world......tired,tired, tired !
It only gets worse with ppl every day !
:(o_O

Thanks for your input, apparently I've had my head in the sand for a GOOD many years :D

What do you think of their rejection of the Old Testament (even though Paul quotes extensively from it), the Johannine writings, and Matthew/Mark?

Yeah I'm not down with that either, nor that new alien God statement either,
since I believe in The Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

But that is NOT on their site that is Wikepedia and it's source inputs come from anyone who want to correct or add to it. That site I always take with a heaping cooking spoon of salt !

Marcion and his views are well-known to biblical historians. Like I said in my first post, I've run across him in several theological textbooks. The Wikipedia article I quoted aligns with what we know about his teachings.

And yes, it IS on their site. Let me show you what to look for. Their website homepage says, "God was revealed only through Jesus, not through an alien religion. The Marcionites determined that the Hebrew bible (Old Testament), and the deity portrayed within it, are diametrically opposed to the teachings and salvation of Jesus Christ. The proof is self-evident in the form of the scriptures themselves and that's why it wasn't included in The Very First Bible." Look through the site for where the "Hebrew Bible" and "Hebrew Law" and "Judaizers" are denigrated. The reference to the "Barbaric Hebrew Deity" (Antithesis (marcionitechurch.org)). Look for it.

This is why I voted for "Cult" in your poll.

The Johannine writings are the Gospel of John, 1 John, 2 John, and 3 John, and depending on whether you think it was written by the Apostle John or a different John, Revelations.

The Bible just isn't whole without them.

Ok, I see what you are saying.
I'm just exploring this.
Most ppl would say of me that I'm a KJ only but I don't think of it that way. It IS MY PREFERRED bible !

Speaking cults for I have not looked at the poll, aren't most organized " churches" almost under that umbrella?

Farouk, did you notice that the Marcionites' Sola Scriptura rejects as Scriptura the Old Testament, the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and John, parts of Luke, Titus, Philemon, 1 and 2 Timothy, Hebrews, 1 and 2 Peter, 1, 2, and 3 John, Revelations?
@Lambano
I wasn't referring to the Marcionites; I was referring simply to Sola Scriptura as a sound principle (which was asserted at the Reformation).
